Just watched the replay again (I'm still trying to work out how we lost when we won so much of the ball!) and it is clearly evident that the skills have improved despite what the stats say.
The problem is we are now missing targets by about 1-2m (at their feet all night long, ok a few exceptions) rather than missing them by 10 metres with shanks and duck hooks like we were so accustomed to in the past few years.
I think our skill level has been upgraded from "butchers" to "bad".
Take Newman's pass in the first quarter backwards to Dal Santo. It was beautiful spinning drop punt straight on the chest. 10 out of 10 for form but 1 out of 10 for decision making.
With some hard work and a little fine tuning I look forward to Richmond graduating to the "average" level by 2009.
