Fella's, It's not that difficult. I've said it before & i'll say it again(just like willo). It all starts in the Mosquito fleet.Teach them young & they'll never forget!

1%ers, I thought elite footballers and coaches would be aware of them!

McGuane cops a flogging in many quarters on this site yet he's the king of 1%s when it comes to the Tiges.
Had 13 of them against the Blues significantly more than any other Tiger or Blue for that matter.

That's the big thing about Muscles that I like, whilst yes he's rough around the edges he's bloody honest in his efforts and keeps trying when other flashier players have long curled up their toes.

By all means upgrade Lace-Out with a more skilfull player if we can but they'll be hard pressed to match Luke for old fashioned team play, guts and determination.

Champion's post! EXACTLY what I am talking about. That's why I put him in the Top 3 last Thursday night. Everyone gets stuck on the easy/highlight reel stuff, epsecially when criticising players on this site. Watch his game closely on and off camera and he worked his ass off last Thursday night and sure, he made errors/clangers under pressure but at least he fought for teammates and exerted pressure on the opposition. He nearly stood alone in fighting for our jumper.

Good post. Muscles would be one of the first picked. Yeah, he dropped an easy mark and let Kruezer take a mark over him, but watch the game again and you'll see that he pantsed Fevola. He'd still pants him if he was fully fit. Also watch all those times he left fevola and covered for his teamates and all the tackles and 1%ers.. He is the toughest, best spoiler, best tackler of our defensive 6.

Rance to come in as the second defensive tall and Moore to take over from Bowden as the third man up. Thursfield better lift if he wants to remain in the side.

McGuane isn't the problem - our tall backs are not the problem. Againe we have been let down by our small backs. They let us down in (a) stopping small forwards kicking goals (Betts destroyed us) and (b) getting the ball out of the defensive 50 effectively. McMahon, Raines, King, and Newman can't hold a small forward and 3 of them can't hit a target consistently enough.

I really wonder about our recruiting policies sometimes. We are fully aware (I hope so anyway) that we have no effective small stopper in defence, yet look past someone like Joseph in the draft and recruit merely 2 kids stopping at pick 50 something. Why not delist one more dud and take a punt on someone like him?

We generally do just enough to give our teammate the ball, then stand back and not shepherd or protect.

i've noticed for years number 12 will handball it and then stand still

I know he needs a breather (god knows he deserves it) but you should always follow up a handball with a block.

Simmo too, the other night

and I agree with that our match review poeple need to make a bigger deal about it
