I reckon a factor in the slow starts could be the pre-game warm-up. It's been the same since the Giesch was in charge - maybe earlier!

The swinging legs by the goal posts and the run throughs have got to go. They're boring, repetitive and the fact that they offer no new stimulus or challenge or variety - they're putting the players to sleep or at least taking the edge off'em - just when you need'em fired up.

I reckon the reason for our slow start is our game plan.

Our keepings off, run and spread, share it by hand(ie give it to me, give it to me, don't protect the ball carrier) game plan does not stand up under pressure.

When the heat goes out of the game we go OK.

If Carlton were fitter they would have beaten us too.

Until our guys start to shepherd and block to give the ball carrier time and space to deliver we'll keep turning the ball over when the contest is at it's hottest.

It's the big problem facing our coaching panel ATM.

And they have to turn it around on the long road trip. Not a small challenge.

Agree - the pre-game warm up is something that should be looked at to turn our slow starts around. Try warming up in the car park at the ground, can the warm up at the last minute and bring in some strippers to entertain the boys just before they go out...something different to get them out of their routine.

TW was the first coach to implement warm ups on the ground...he needs to apply his innovative mind to create something else to get the boys zoned in at the first bounce

How about using his innovative mind to stop a team scoring more points than us (or us scoring more points than the other team).
Until then, he can stick his innovative mind up his innovative clacker (along with his 'Tuesdays with Terry' egotistical *smile*)

P.S:
Our warm-up before the game go for too long....half of them look knackered before the game even starts....and we have to wait until halfway through the 2nd quarter for our 'second wind' to kick in, hence our slow starts and better second halves. ;)

forget the warn ups
we need an intense build up in the dressing room followed by a few physical altercations before we run out - PUMPED

I reckon the reason for the slow starts is because, at the moment, we are crap ;D

Seriously, every game it seems we have a slow start. We usually come back later in the game, by then it's too late. The only teams we have come back and won is when we play crappier teams. The half decent ones go for the jugular.
