I would prefer we didn't have a clash jumper, but I have been of the opinion that if the AFL say we must, then we must.

But on Saturday, I took more notice against Ess than normal with the issue being a topic this year, and I have now basically changed my mind.  I see no need what so ever to have a clash jumper with Ess.

I would be very surprised if anyone at the ground, watching on TV, or the players had any problems at all.

Yellow and red are totally different, and add the white shorts on us, and both teams were totally different.

I see no need at all to have a different jumper when we play Essendon. ( and probably all other clubs too including Carlton )

I hate that jumper personally. It's so bland IMO.

Agree Nik. Doesn't capture any Tiger spirit at all imo but I'm happy for it to be used in the pretend cup if it brings us sponsorship $$$.

It is really amusing when Collingwood and Essendon state that they never want to change their traditional jumpers blah blah blah. Essendon's sash is about three times wider than it was 20 years ago (as is ours, I might add!) and the redis so much brighter and shinier than it used to be. Who can forget the "Colour TV" red shorts they used to wear?

Collingwood have reversed their stripes and doubled the amount of black over the last few years.

Everything changes!

I have no problem with alternative jumpers as long as they are respectful of tradition and look good. I would hate to see the players running around in busy numbers like the NRL ones, where in half the matches the players from both teams are running around in a mess of blues, orange, yellows and red.

David you didn't include this option "No because Collingwood don't have to, so why should any other team in the league"

:clap

they need to ban the collingscums new socks
They clash with my eyes

Just wondering if anyone has any news re our alt jumper options.

We all saw Ess had a meeting the other week to vote for theirs, and from what I understand, we are going do ours by having 3 or 4 options on our web site for members to vote on.

I thought each club had to submit their alt jumper decision to the AFL by the end of May?

Anyone know?

Hard to accept the AFL genuinely believe clash strips are a problem when they have the Swans and the umpires both in white tonight. ::)

I really like the Umpires in white, and they don't necessarily have to be in the trench coates (as some umpires I know think they are horrible and heavy when wet), and I bet no game had a problem with it this week... even the Umpires in the Scum v WC game seemed to be steered clear of....

damned mumbo jumbo about clashes with Umps and jumpers AFL CRAP...
