Been watching the and following the Tiges for 42 years. I cant ever remember a side in the VFL/AFL that looks so soft or lacking physical presence on the field ever. If a blue started on the field who would stick up fro others and dish it out. We have some younger skillful types coming on in the next year or two for sure but cant see any strong bodied types to crunch in tackles, run throuhg a bloke etc. I really feel embarrassed by this team out there representing the tigers at the moment all my mates laugh at them and all I keep seeing in headlines are soft, timid, etc. My grandmother at 85 has got more balls than this lot

We do lack some of the "enforcers," of the past, that's for sure. A Mal Brown, Francis Bourke, *smile* Clay, Mike Patterson, just to name a few of recent past years, would not know how to take a backward step. Having said that, we just lack the physical types at present, and we can't do anything about that...the members/supporters that is.

Was pleased to see Deledio lay 4 tackles on the weekend.

Most of our team is still very young and their bodies won't be truly primed for AFL until another couple of tough pre seasons.

Still Wallace certainly hasn't made hardness a priority in this team. :-\

i think some of the geelong sides of the past have that title well and truly to themselves.
we`re just not good enough at the moment. we do need a few more hard nuts but so do most teams.

Spot on Quinhon

Losing is always hard but having to watch opposition sides continually waltz untouched through 2, 3, 4 or more Tigers every game knowing that there will be little or no pressure is the most pityful thing I have experienced in ages.

And watching sides like Hawthorn and the Roos who probably share many of our deficiencies - grinding out wins and honorable losses purely from the intense pressure and never say die spirit they posess makes it all that much harder to take!

You're forgeting the fact over half of our 22 have less then 100 games experience.

I dont think their soft, I think they lack protection form senior players

Try 4 out of 22 with over 100 games experience. Johnson, Bowden, Richo and Tivendale.

Then we had Krak, Pettifer, Deledio, Tuck, Hyde, Newman and Polak who have played 50 games or more.

The other 11 (half the team) have played less than 50 games.

We are missing hard nuts, especially in the midfield, but to say that this is the softest team in history is drawing a long bow.

Perhaps we can keep the absurd rhetoric to a dull roar. ::)

At both PRE pre draft nights I have asked if we are looking anyone with a bit of "grunt" in them. I've received a negative response on both occasions.

The modern day "run and carry" merchants (aka flankers) seem in contrast with hardness apparently.

I will ask again for sure (if I'm allowed back). :rofl

I know that the Tigers are travelling very poorly, but gee, do we have to stoop to new levels on this forum to describe the delipadated state of our club.

Statistically, this side is too short and too light.

It was obvious from the stand against Geelong that they were significantly bigger. Geelong has the highest average weight.

It is harder to impose yourself from this position, so reliance on skills then takes precedence, and hence the poor showing to date this seaon.

Very heavy bone breaks and other such injuries has placed even more pressure on the playing leadership group (what's left of it).

When we were 0 and 5 there were positive signs having hit the front late in the games, etc.

Even though they are all paid professionals, I am more starting to admire the younger brigade for, if nurtured correctly, will stand them in good stead to "never" want to be like this any longer than they have to.

Enough of the excuses. They still wear our jumper and get payed big bucks, so they need to at least try to win a game at some stage...
