I still think Hartletts hit on Howatt in Rd1 was the worst and most unpunished offence i have seen in the tribunal system. He full on coat hangered Howat who wasnt even looking, knocked him out and he got offered one week. Solly gets 8 for this shot on Ling and i really doubt the tribunal has got any sort of coherence or objectivity.

Ask the bloke that Nick Darcy hit how much damage an elbow can do.

Exactly Ian. Pure semantics as to whose was worse Hall or Sillyman. Quite obviously Sillymans was worse as Ling ended up undergoing surgery for a broken cheekbone and will miss 4-6 weeks according to the club doctor.

The tribunal was informed to take his apology and remorse into account, imagine if they didn't? On hearing Ling's injuries, the penalty is probably justified, thought some more might of come out of that game, I saw a couple of incidents worthy of a look!

Out of contract at season's end (I think), on rebuilding team, that very well may be the last team Soloman is seen on an AFL park.
The guy is a moron, he will be remembered as the guy that was so mentally weak that you could easily bate him into giving away stupid free kicks, 50 metre penalties and getting himself rubbed out over and over again. Clearly put his tough guy image and ego above the team throughout his career. Don't mistake stupidy for hardness either.
Boy I am glad that he didn't come over to Richmond for that $400,000 a year he was asking for, that would have put us back another five years.
See you Solli, don't let the door hit you on the ass!

This is nowhere NEAR as bad as barry hall! It was LATE but in the play! his elbow came up very late in the piece, wasnt raised the entire time, he actually turns his head to see the ball go behind him.... ne1 with a bit of physics can work out what would happen to the elbow. Im not saying he should have gotten off lightly, but he should have copped less weeks than barry hall!

Hall should have gone for 10 week IMO! this penalty is abt right... 1-2 more weeks than what lingy will probably be out for! thats FAIR!

Who cares if it was in the play? K well the tribunal does. For me, anyone who's played footy or been hit by a flying elbow knows what damage can be done. The guy basically lined Ling up and lifted his elbow on purpose to inflict damage to his face. He even eyed him off first. Hall's was definitely more up-front but both were as bad as each other and deserved the penalties they received. Solomon received more because of prior convictions (someone said reported 6 times in 32 matches).
