I didn't see the game but amidst all the doom on the boards it was great to read that TW rated Chris's game highly in his first game back from that horrific double break last year.
Seems as though he'll be right to go for round 1 which is a big plus for us that he's done so well in his recovery.

I'd be interested to read some PREnders perspectives on how he went on Saturday and what's in store for Newmo in '07. 8)

Thought he was one of the better players, hoping he can get a crack in the midfield at some stage this year. While no world beater, he would add some depth to the midfield.

I think several PREnders listed Chris's successful return as a positive from the game too.

Yes........................Chrissy did break the ice well after his horrific injury. Actually, he played better than I expected and it was pleasing to see. I just hope he has the opportunity, pending injuries to the rest of the team, I would like to see him rotated through the middle...........maybe TW has plans to do this, who knows.

Wow, not a Newman fan CC?
Easily in our best 22,just have a little issue how he seems to back his pace too much when he gives quick ,clever players a start, would just like to see a little more push an shove, an you cant tell your opponent would you did last night when your 2 metres behind them.

Too many of the better midsize forwards have stiched him up from been to loose an I feel not enough white line fever about his game, big reason we chased a back pocket so hard recently

Please do. ;D

Just surprised that you'd bag a player in their first hit out after a serious injury when TW himself praised Chris's performance on the night.

Most unlike you, Claw hasn't hacked into your account has he? ;D

Lucky we found Raines huh? Can he (Newman) play in the midfield do you think? He is one of the better disposers.

Started on Stokes

Now let me back peddle a little ;D,I think Newy is a fine player an was very happy with his return game, but for years I think he plays to far behind his opponent at times an when he was down my end the other day it stood out to me an he got done on the lead a couple of times due to the fact he gives players a start

Fair enough, not suggesting he's perfect by any stretch.
I guess Disco's point re Raines is a good one.
It'll be very interesting to see where Newman is used this season.

Can he kick a goal? Might get a run up forward in a similar role Hyde was used last season. Could be interesting and the change might do him the world of good.

Personally think he plays his best role now as a negatting half back who still gets around 15 possies a game(has only averaged 15 possies in 05 the rest around 13)Just dont think his got the class or reflect action for the midfield or the ball winning capabilities

rated his game highly considering first game back. solid as usual

i really hope they give him a bit of a rest over the next couple of weeks, 'd hate to see his leg blow up like it did for browny

Was talkin to a Saints guy today an theres talk Mcguire will play round 1,that would be madness you would have thought as his was a lot more like Brownys then Newy's

i'd be happy for the saints to take a chance

with the way our blokes have been dropping down though i'd prefer to see our kids getting matches and our more senior blokes wrapped in cotton wool
