Sometimes you just get impressed

Just thought I'd also let you all know that I arrived at my desk this morning to find an email from Greg Miller thanking me and also promising to follow up.

Go Tiges!! :clap

Sounds like a professional outfit is developing on and off the field. Watch out all you other clubs, a Tiger tidal wave is a comin'.

Well done, Hopper. I didn't go to the game, but I was glad to see that the Buffs got up. 'Bout time the saints got beat in a GF!

Makes you think, that. I have a few names on my list of NT youth I'd like to see in tiger colours!

Geez, Don't tell me the RFC recruting department is getting it's act together? And after only 25 years too! Greg Beck will be rolling in his grave! (once he gets there ;D)

It was a good one djevv. I'm mostly a waratahs man as I play cricket for them, but was glad also to see Buffs triumph. Sat in the middle of the Darwin crowd so it was a lot of fun.

Like the avatar jayfox. That saying is one of my favourites :hihi

well done Hopper.

Sometimes information (not matter how small) received by the club can be very useful in follow ups (viewing a particular player over a number of matches/situations). Hopper's initiative should inspire all of us to become more proactive in the area of talent scouting. lets follow his example.

I'd imagine the club would get hundreds, if not thousands, of heads-ups about players.  It's good if they show interest but we shouldn't expect they'd all be followed up.

We can read opinions on here of games or training reports and 10 people will see something 10 different ways.  The club would have no idea whether those contacting them would have the knowledge to select a potential league player.

The thing that's impressed me here is that they've had the courtesy to reply.  It hasn't always been that way at RFC and I'm really happy that it's an area that's been addressed, and greatly improved upon, in recent years.  :clap

Done that before, Darwin Buffs supporters are a bit feral, a bit like Collingwood supporters! However, I reckon they are the best supported team in Darwin.

How did Austin Woneamirri play?

Can't say I noticed anyone by that name, djevv. Anderson, White and Tipingwuiti were than standouts for buffs, while I thought Lohde and J.Ilett were excellent for Saints.

Agreed Rosy, but I'm not expecting anything to come of it - that ain't my department. I too have focussed on the gratitude shown by the club.

These are the same AFLNT matches replayed in Melbourne on ABC2 (digital) each week, I imagine.....

One would have also imagined all recruiters would have been watching/recording these games.........
:P Onya Davo.

Great story and well done Hopper!

I have no issue with Hopper taking the initiative and highlighting to the club a certain player to look at (well done, that man....), but I do have an issue that the answer wasn't something like "We'll take special notice when we review the game we recorded last weekend....."

FFS, I'm just an average footy supporter yet I can figure out that valuable recruiting material from the NT is available on free to air TV each week during the summer, I certainly would have expected any organisation with any pretensions whatsoever to being professional AFL recruiters to also be aware and already have this material at hand for analysis.

Great that Hopper told the club, great that he got a reply, staggering that we didn't already have the game recorded (or had it organised to get the game).

Geez DC, I think you've had a big reaction to one little emoticon.

Was hoping this thread would bring a little hope to us all. Let's go easy eh, peoples!

Yeah, Tipinwuti is a gun. He plays FF as a small goal-sneak but he can also take a big grab or mark on the lead you name it.

Wonaemiri is a young Tiwi Is player who plays Back pocket for St marys.
