PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

Have just finished watching the 2002 game against the Swans, round 22.

God, we were awful. Thank our lucky stars we have a new coach who is preparing the team with SPEED. We were just so slow. First time I have seen this game, and hopefully it will be the last. If it wasn't for Brad Ottens....in his hey day apparently, and David Rodan, both good in patches, the loss would have been catastrophic. Did see a lovely right foot pass by Tivva in the first quarter.

However, we did have a game plan. It went something like this:-Always play behind your man. Make sure there is an opposition player yards in the clear, and whatever you do don't man up on him. Don't run when you get the ball, just prop and then kick to a contest. Ensure you play the flanks, we don't want the ball in the centre corridor at any cost. If kicking to Richo, don't do so unless he has at least two, but preferably three to beat. Finally, go to ground at every opportunity, and make sure you fumble when trying to pick the ball up from the ground.

There you go, Darksiders, tonight I join you in retrospect.

A bright future awaits the Tigers from those dark days.
