It is obvious we have gone for speed in '06. Let's hope the "speedsters" have the footy smarts and skill to go with it. So far it looks good.

Last night I watched the replay of Crows v. Tigers at the Adelaide ground in 2004. Apart from the lack of game plan, the obvious lack of pace was just so evident. Add to this, btw, some pretty hopeless players, and lack of fitness. Skill was also missing in large lumps. What a difference a year makes, mixed with a coach who has some idea on how the game should be played, and gets the players fit and skilled.

For 2006, it looks like "catch me if you can."

And that sounds just fine by me gray...soooooooooo looking forward to it.

speed v skill or speed and skill? anyways im of the same opinion. both speed and skill abounds coming to the tiges ;)

We will get off to an average start to the season proper (what a tough opening quarter of the home n away season we have) and im hoping that by the second half things will settle and we'll start to click similar to the doggies back nine of last year.

Hope this is the case as it'll give us a lowly finish on the ladder (good draft picks from a bumper crop) and at the same time finishing strongly will set us up for the following year with optimism and a higher ladder placing.

hmmmmm, if only it were true :P

One thing that will be interesting is, with all these quick kids, can they still execute their skills as well and have same level of decision making at a faster pace than under 18s?

Some have been tried at senior level in other leagues, but none of those leagues measure up to the pace and intensity of AFL football. Here's hoping.

That's exactly what I was saying General. I would think TW has skills training in place to address this very issue. Also wonder how the older players in Tivva, Chaffs and the others will cope with this supposed new pace thingo.
