I've registered PRE as an affiliate member of  sportsdelivered.com.

If anyone purchases anything from their site after accessing it from the links either at the bottom of the message board or the main page a small commission will be donated by sportsdelivered towards the running costs of this site.

The link takes you straight to Richmond products but you can go to any part of their website from there.

You don’t have to do anything different to order.  The code tells them where their site was accessed.

They have plenty of videos on special for $9.95 at the moment.

They also have Name A Game videos and dvd’s from any round in any year as well.

Out of interest I'd really appreciate a review of the following two videos if anyone's seen either of them.

100 years of Australian Football
Miracle marks of the AFL

I just checked and our grand finals are available. Does anyone have our grand final dvd's?

I'm just wondering if there's any benefit paying extra for the dvd version.

Would the video be just as good?

(Am not to au fait with dvd's.  People tell me they are far better but apart from the extras I don't see much difference to a video.)

Although the pretty much look the same when viewed
on a standard TV...there are a number of advantages
with DVDs:
... DVDs don't get jammed in video players and stuff the
tape... you can kind of skip around them a lot more -
rather than wait for the tape to spool forward and
backwards - ie to go back to the start, you don't have
to rewind them. Supposidly, the longevity of a DVD exceeds
that of a video tape. DVDs don't degrade or wear out with
use. They are smaller - you can have a heap more of
them on a shelf.

There's probably a whole lot of other reasons as well.

Obvously - you can't re-use most DVDs and it it's kind
of expensive to get a DVD recorder.

Problem with dvd's though is if you scratch it, it's stuffed. I found that out when I hired a dvd and half way through the movie it stopped playing, was not happy >:( Each time it got to that part of the movie it would just freeze and stop playing. I suppose because it was from the video store people don't really care about the condition and don't handle it properly but I know I'm careful with my cd's and they still end up scratched so for me, my preference is videos.

I have just seen a video called Magic Moments RFC. I wonder how long this one has been out for?

Agree with what baktiger says about DVDs.
If the DVD is of a game that pre-dated DVD (i.e., it is just copied from the video) then obviously your DVD disc will be no better quality than a VHS tape. BUT, it won't get worse over time - the VHS tape will - each time you play it you lose a tiny bit of quality.
Don't see the scratching issue as a problem - I've lost more VHS tapes through the tape breaking than I have DVDs through scratching. Treat them well. They say they're undamageable but I say keep your grubby fingers off the playing side!
As to the DVD recorder - yes, they are expensive but if we are talking about playing bought DVDs then why is that an issue? Some DVD players are now cheaper than some DVDs and you can always record from DVD to a blank tape if you need to copy it.
Then there's the issue of bulk on your book shelf and there the DVDs win hands down.
A mate of mine rang me the other day to say he had ordered the GF on VHS but they sent him the DVD by mistake. He wanted to know if I could copy it for him. I said yes but my advice to him was to buy a DVD player. How much are they in Australia? You can get them here for the equivalent of 40-50 bucks.

Rosy, get into DVD. In a few years it will be so dominant that the VHS tapes will be less common and might even cost more because of that.

And that 100 years of football is the best documentary on the history of the VFL/AFL I've ever seen. Get it, for sure.

Aaaah, nothing like doing "file back ups" of your (or other's) DVD's - for personal use of course. :hihi If you buy a DVD & you are worried about it being scratched, then back it up straight away - the best 44c you will ever spend. ;)

Absolutely Zipper!  And you can get stuff now that you apply to the DVD and CD that "repairs" the scratches (technically it just fills in the gap I'm told) but does mean you get the use back again if you are so careless like Goddess :o.  Only joshing!

Rosy, get the DVD and buy the player.  I'm going to KMart this week for the Panasonic DVD/VHS that records either way, and records in RAM, -RW and +RW.  Nothing is future proof, but this come close for a while at least.

And doubly get the DVD, becuase when all broadcaast become High Definition (2008?), you will either need a Set Top box or all in one unit that will really crank up the quality of your viewing.  DVD now!

Good DVD...well worth a look for any tiger die hard fans. Only thing I found disappointing through all the highlights it contained there was no "That Mark" by Roachy against the Dawks.

Thought that this would be a given for any Richmond highlight package.

This thread is 18 months old fellas...I did eventually get a DVD player. Now I'm thinking of getting a DVD burner.

Gus I miss the commission from your DVD purchases through the Sports Delivered link.....Long may Richmond wins continue next year. ;D

How long does it take for DVD's to arrive once you have ordered them off the site Rosy? I want to get the !966 St Kilda Grand Final for my Bro In Law for xmas. Hoping it will be the only one he gets to see for awhile ;D

There is a link to the DVD from the below link.... (doesn't make sense but anyway)

I thought I would try to find a topic already related to what I wanted to say, so I wouldn't create another thread on the topic.

;D
