The roses are getting buds, fresh growth is covering the trees, the smell of wattle and fresh mown lawns tantalises the senses, the ducks and swans all have their little babies.
Spring is well and truly in the air and Melbourne is alive with footy fever. The papers, the telly, the radio, the people in the street are all talking about the Grand Final.
Please Greg and Terry and RFC players one day soon let us be involved in the last day of September celebrations.
My kids are adults now and they think it's normal for Richmond to go dormant in August. They've never really known any different.
It's almost impossible not to get caught up in the excitement and barrack for one of the last two teams.
This year I'll go for the Swans but as each year passes I wish more it was our beloved Tiges that were the team in everyone's thoughts on GF day.
Somehow I really believe we're well on track for it to be soon but another part of me thinks it's the impossible dream it's been so long.
