Stand Up Cleve Hughes

If we're going to turn a defender into a forward, Rance and McGuane are the best chances IMO. Lukey played as a forward in his junior days on the Gold Coast. He is a strong mark, good pace off the mark. Kicking for goal not too bad.

Rance is the interesting one. If he can apply his workrate up forward, he could turn out to be a N Riewoldt type player. The only query I have is that he's not a great contested marker. His kicking, whilst erratic in general play, may suit kicking for goal. His kicks are usually lacking length, not line. They're usually over-cooked and over a teammate's head or under-cooked and at the toes. This wouldnt be a problem in kicking for goal.

Both worth a try this year IMO. We basically have 16 practice match games ahead of us to try different structures and players for next year and beyond. Let's use them wisely.

Good post Brissie. Elvis and MCG are both worth a try up front.

McGuane is currently our best defender against the big bodied forwards. We really need him down back against the Lions.

Shane Tuck should be our full forward.

Awesome leap, strong overhead, dead-eye *smile* in front of goal and Cousins is probably coming back this week to cover the middle.

McGuane will never be a forward IMHO, Rance on the other hand I had a couple of months ago on PRE to try at Full Forward this year to either a) develop his defensive skills and learn from some of the games best backlines or b) on the chance he could make a fist of it and show promise in a role we are sorely needing filled.

I like your sugeestion TM, gotta be better than Simmonds at FF, and as you say with Cousins back in the midfield he might even get some nice lace-out delivery!

I reckon Wallace still won't try Schulz and Hughes together consistently.
Forget Wallace, its Schulz and Hughes won't try together consistently
