Why is it that we do not stand on the mark?
If a player takes a mark we never stand on the mark and make the player kick over his head.
We zone of and let the player run 10 or more and then kick, it makes me sick.

Can any player stand the mark for a free kick ?

Yes. It is not the sole responsibility of the error maker. A former coach used to insist we push up from fwd to take the mark releasing the free kick giver to push back. 50m penalties for abuse were eliminated and kept more players tuned in more often. You never quite knew when you would have to push back to take the mark and had the be ready. Harder to do in AFL given the play on pace of the game though.

They try to channel the player into kicking it around the boundary line. All clubs do it.

Thanks for the answer :)

Wow, why the heck Simmonds and Pattison stood by and watched jake king stand the mark on two occasions near the 45m distance is an indightment on our team.

No we need to work the mark more, standing 5 or 10 feet of the mark is just giving the player more time to get rid of the ball.
When play on is called.

One of my biggest pet hates in football.

A player takes a mark, the defensive players marks the spot two metres further out, the umpire comes in, asks the player to move back, they dont, and then the umpire just lets them stay where the are.

The worst thing is, our defensive players are too bloody honest and move back when asked.

just out of curiosity....anyone see poor Grigg from Carlton not getting any help from his team-mates to stand the mark when he injured himself....

Steve Johnson ran straight past him and kicked a goal....shocking play by Carlton

Yeah, poor bugger. I don't think anyone realised how much pain he was in.

I thought the umps were cracking down on this, I remember we and the dogs copped a few 50's on this when we played.

One should be on the mark and the other on the goal line unless Richo was there.

the other indictment on Wallace is allowing players to choose their own footware - young blokes, and stupid blokes, need to be told - GET the long STOPS out boys, you can always go back the other way if it's dry
