there have been many comments made about our performace on saturday against the dawks. yes we played crap, they looked better, yadda yadda yadda...
but lets look at the big picture. richmond has had a habit in recent years of starting seasons well and and dying in the second half of the year.
- in 2002 we won 3 games out of the last 14
- in 2003 we won 1 game out of the last 14
- in 2004 we won 0 games out of the last 14
- in 2005 we won 3 games out of the last 13
we had 8-9 of our regular senior players not playing last saturday. we clearly looked behind hawthorn in preparation. if you look at out draw, we travel 4 times and play away to geelong in the first 12 rounds.
it is my opinion that tw is deliberately holding the boys back in preparation so we peak later in the year when we have a good run of games in melbourne. if we can pull off 5 wins in the first 12 games, it might be reasonable to hope we can win 7 out of our last 10 games and sneak into the 8.
