Watching this game and wonder why the so called rules committees have changed so many rules over the past 17 years.
It was named as the best State of Origin game ever and it certainly lived up to those expectations.
Good hard fast play on footy with little for the umpires to do.
Players had to earn any frees that were going around.
It was sad to see at least 3 faces that are no longer with us though.
Ted Whitten, Danny Frawley and Jim Stynes.
Spotted Neale Balm in the crowd, and saw Matty Knights do a few good things.
Also noted no histrionics when someone kicked a goal and no dramas with the goal umpiring either.
No camera in those days and all went smoothly.
Football as it was supposed to be played, back then.
As an extra, how good was Jarman?
Will now go and watch the last quarter.
