Who could forget that demolition job in 2007 - 157 points from memory. That *smile* scares me given the teams' respective round 1 form. :help

Thanks Jukes. Some interesting info has come from the last four games.

1.We have been destroyed each time at the centre bounces: hitouts 45-15,44-15,46-30,46-30. Mark Blake the destroyer each time.

2.Geelong has slaughtered us for possessions in 3 of the four games, except round 8 last year where they had 14 more ,and won by 30 points. In that game we had 1 more kick(an amazing 90 more kicks than handballs for us),and 18 more marks than Geelong. Our most consistent players against Geelong have been:Tuck,Bowden,McMahon,Brown,Lids,Foley,Richo.

3.What does all this mean?We need an outstanding rucking performance,a team that will not overdo the handball, and a bunch of players who need to redeem themselves.

We also need a miracle.

i was surprised to read today that geelong have won 23 of the past 29 against us.

surprised that we had won so many actually.

they are that few and far between i can actually name the 6 wins we`ve had since 1982 without checking.

i`m pretty sure they are,in1982,1990 and 2006 at kardinia park, once in about 1985 in the wet at waverley,i think we won by a point that day, once at the MCG in around 1997 and once at telstra dome in 2000 when we flogged them.

i can still remember in the 1980`s we were ahead of them in head to head clashes by about 8 wins and i thought they`d never catch us.
now there way ahead of us.

That was the beginning of Geelong's dominance, proud to say that we acted as a stepping stone to a premiership side.

The 6 we have won are

1996 round 20 by 65 points
1997 round 1 by 9 points
1998 round 17 by 9 points
1999 round 13 by 35 points
2000 round 8 by 70 points
2006 round 9 by 20 points

before that in 1990 at Kardinia Park when Geelong kicked 9.28.82 to 13.18.96

In effect going back to last 25 years we have won about 7 in 40 against The Cats.

Sure is! :hihi

Though if the match was played last week, Geelong would have given it a shake such was the gap in performance.

Geez I hope we don't roll over..good time to bring out the 'Geelong model' :help

The amazing thing too is that four of those seven wins since 1984 came in 1997-2000, a period where Geelong was sans the name 'Gary Ablett' on the team sheet. That name has killed the Tigers ever since Sr kicked a couple of late long bombs in that game in 1984 at the MCG, one of his first eye-catching games for the Cats. So just three times in that 25 year span have the Tigers overcome a side with that name in it.

Thing to remember is though that we won there in 2006 and lost by just 1 point at Skilled in 2005. Got to trt and rekindle the spirit of those times again!

:rofl

I remember I tipped them.

I think the Kangaroos had just beaten them and thought we might get over the top of them.

Thankfully it was the one Victorian game I missed attending that year because it was a Sunday twilight game. Watched it on the box. 20 goals down at 1/2 time.
