There's a little snippet in the Whataweek section of the H/S today.

Since 2000 the pre-season grand finalists have gone on to win the AFL premiership twice and two other clubs have lost in the final of both the Who Cares Cup and the big one in September.

Essendon did the double in 2000 and the following year Brisbane did.

Collingwood lost both grand finals in 2003  ;D and in 2005 West Coast did the same.

I didn't realise teams that went well in the pre-cup went on with it in the real thing so often. Trust Carlton to break the mould last year.  How to go from roosters to feather dusters in 22 weeks. :rofl

With the game a few hours away how's everyone feeling today?

If we lose I say it's only pre-season and doesn't count but have to admit once the ball is bounced I hate losing to anyone and really barrack hard for a win.

I'm far more excited today than I usually am about the pre-season comp.

I'm a tad nervous about the game too.  I reckon we need to get off to a flier this season so I'm really hoping we see some good signs regardless of the result.

Bugger it,Ive Hijacked yore thread!Sorry Rosy...I wasnt payin attention(mustve been my new avatar)
Got a really good feeling about this year and onwards.......hope to have at least 12 wins racked up and a good percentage.....Enjoy the ride!

Considering our dodgy draw to start the season, no games at the G and a couple away, it's of extra importance for us to do well in the NAB if we can.

We need those membership $$ flowing in to help stop our debt increasing yet again this year. Membership sales are down on last year but there's nothing like a win or two to fire Richmond supporters up.

The prize $$$$ would be very handy too.

The NAB is certainly nowhere near as important as the H&A season but it can go a long way towards improving our financial situation.

Yes...fair points. I'm just not a fan of the pre-season comp. Would much rather a longer h&a season.

Normally I don't think wins or losses in pre-season cups count for anything, but in the Tigers case, we really need our team to start showing its winning ways in every game.

It is time to find out how good our recruits are. If we lose it says things about them I don't want to hear.

If we win, we can hold on to hopes!

I'll be looking forward to the game without a doubt. It is important to notch up win & the prize money will be benificial also. Unfortunately, our recent draftees won't be playing and it would of been good for them to get the taste of what it's all about, and no doubt to hear the Tiger roar.

Feeling OK but looking forward to a pre-match BBQ followed by the game.
