Stats Schmats

The only stats that matter:
1. Marks in forward 50
2. Tackles laid
3. Turnovers
4. total number of kicks to score
Benchmark us against Geelong/StKilda and you will see why I cry every week
Only gameplan is KISS

We had more tackles than Brisbane.

Only because Foley, Jackson & Graham had 19 between them.

And they won. If we'd been a bit harder at it/them, we might have won.

I know I harp on about shepherds but IMO shepherds would tell you more.

Shepherds reduce the oposition's tackling.
Sheperhds ease the presure and reduce the number of turnovers drastically.
Shepherds reduce the number of posessions to score (1 handball & shepherd & kick = 6 handballs and no shepherd).

Stats are useful for Supercoach, Dreamteam etc not for evaluating the Tiges game

true - stats mean *smile*.

there should be a stat for decision making - we'd be the worst by far.

give me 10 shaun burgoyne possessions over 20 richard tambling possessions any day.

There are only one set of stats that really matter -

And they are on the scoreboard.........thats where the 4 Premiership points are won.

There you go, it's not as if we didn't have the ball and we made more mistakes.

Actually, we did make more mistakes gpb. For some unknown reason Champion Data include frees against as clangers. If you factor that in Richmond actually made 10 more turnovers than Brisbane which resulted in Brisbane kicking two thirds of their score from turnovers. Combine that with the fact Richmond missed more shots at goal and stats tell the story perfectly.

What happens 95% of the time when a player makes a bad decision?

You are correct on that one Disco, yes, we did make more mistakes, leaving out a comma makes a big difference.
