PUNT ROAD END | Richmond Tigers Forum

I am less and less a fan of stats, paticularly under the Wallace game plan but its always useful to look at the stats that top teams do better than the bottom teams. Here is my crude analysis of what the top teams do more than their opponents in 2009 (or less in the case of errors). RFC ranking in brackets

STATS THAT MATTER IN ORDER
1 Errors (10th) we suck but not the worst
2 Kicks (5th) as we know all at the wrong end of the ground
3 Bounces (8th)
4 Disposals (3rd) ditto
5 Tackles (15th) we suck period

STATS THAT DON'T MATTER IN ORDER
15 Hitouts (11th)
14 First possessions (5th)
13 Contested possessions (12th)
12 Clearances (3rd) we do good, but it seems its better to have the last posession before a centre bounce rather than the first after one. LOL
11 Handballs (2nd) only Geelong better but its largely irrelevant, why was this obvious to everyone other that TW

STATS IN THE MIDDLE

6 Uncontested posessions (2nd) A better indicator than CP's but not if its all in the back 50. Gameplan!!!!
7 Marks (4th)
8 1% (12th)
9 Long kicks (12th)
10 Contested marks (5th)

For what its worth Brisbane and Richmond are the odd teams. Brisbane does nothing better than its opponents other than Errors and Bounces. RFC outstats its opponents in a lot of areas but we all know its at the wrong end of the ground.
