Going back and looking at some games from 2020, I don’t see us manning the mark much differently to other teams, everyone was shifting around on the mark and cutting off angles into the corridor. Maybe it was more important to our way of defending, but I don’t see much difference in the way we did it compared to other teams, so the rule change is really a disadvantage to everyone.

I think the 6-6-6 rule was much more of a disadvantage to us and the way we played, we would regularly start with 7 in the back line with Kane lambert starting there and pushing up once the ball bounced, limiting any quick centre breaks for the opposition, and given we were never a high contested possession team this was important. We were still able to overcome it though and win another 2 flags.

Quality post. :clap2

People were saying 'don't worry about'
He is the General of the AFL changing rules when it suited him, now the General manager of Geelong. Nothing will happen
2 years later they have the flag.
The look on his face on the bench when the siren went in 2020 was pure hatred and anger

I’d like to digitally remove him from all online records; all images of him working for the AFL scrubbed from the internet using advanced AI, and all written word of his input removed.
It would appear shocking has already managed to remove any reference to the conversation he had with Leppa about us manning the mark and introducing the STAND rule. Surely Tiger76’s request to remove any reference to Shocking is doable.

One thing I noticed yesterday was they seem to be more lenient on moving after been called to stand. There was one instance of a swans player doing what were essentially star jumps on the mark

Biggest conflict of interest premiership I have seen swept under the carpet by the afl. Worked at the club become general manager at afl chopping and changing rules to suit his agenda and club gives his club the heads up rule changes bewildering why every other club wasn't informed at the same time returns to his club then there head coach's brother takes the vacant role lol if that's not conflict of interest well afl is living in fairyland.

Just read an interesting tweet.

Said "I wonder if there will be any rule changes after a Geelong flag. Doubt it"

So accurate. They won 16 games in a row, including a flag. Dominant. Will the coach's brother try and curb this??

See ya later Gil. You've turned this once great game into a corrupt joke

Maybe limit the numbers of over 33 y.o's in a team?

Of course there won’t be: “We just want the game to settle down after recent changes.”

If a player kicked goals out of the ruck like Hawkins and they couldn’t do it. Hocking would have changed the rules that you can’t kick it out from the ruck and must handball it.

If you actually wanted to equalise the comp and went fully socialist geelongs super long period of dominance and w/l is what you should be changing the rules for. Normalise ground size, force them to play home games at marvel etc etc.

Reckon the Geelong ground size is massively overdone on here.

It's 1.5m longer each end and 4m narrower on each side than Adelaide Oval.

Spot on. Since the inception of the poor old Suns, Geelong have played in the finals 11 of the 12 seasons and won 2 flags. The Suns 0 and 0.

I expect the AFL to look at equalising the competition and bringing Geelong back to the field.
