Everyone is worrying about tanking for draft selections which certainly has positives but as has we know, without good development, draft picks mean nothing. Tanking makes sense for weak, poor crappy clubs who are unattractive for champions looking for a new club so require the draft to get the future guns. Think about it, when was the last time a Champion left a club for a North or a Melbourne etc. Great players in their prime leave for clubs like Carlton (Judd), Collingwood (Buckley) and even Richmond (Nathan Brown). Hint, they want to play for the Big 4 (maybe 5 if you include the Hawks) in Big Games in front of Big Crowds at the MCG. When Free Agency comes in the Tigers will have a much better opportunity of recruiting ready made guns and little *smile* clubs will be screwed as their gun draftees can walk away after 4-5 years unless they want to keep playing in front of more than 15,000 at the docklands against the Weagles.

Free Agency is coming and like supporters of the other Big 4 I can't wait! Advantage Tiges.

Yeah, i would love to play for a club that has seen 2 finals series in 27 years and is the laughing stock of the league.

... and will probably go broke before my contract runs out.

Free agency will be the end of nearly all the Melbourne clubs, us included.

It seems to me the people talking this free agency stuff up is the managers and the players--they will be the only winners-like they are not being paid enough already! Footy clubs and by association, their supporters, will be the losers here

i'm not against free agency because the trade period just doesn't work. there clearly needs to be a higher movement of players between clubs... but it needs to be restricted... it can't be a free for all. eg. maybe a club can only recruit one player per year via free agency, and any club can only lose one player per year
