I have discussion with other supporters on this issue and was wondering what others thought.

I have been continually frustrated by the ease at which we allow oppositions sides to score from the stoppages, because we seem to refuse to have anyone on the defensive side of the contest, It killed us against Port, it happened last night, and has happened in most games.

I remember watching a game against Melbourne years ago and we lost largely because Melbourne slaughtered us at the stoppages. Campbell was playing back then and couldn't help but draw a link. We seems to just ignore this issue constantly and it is costing us especially at stoppages in the defensive part of the ground.

Any thoughts.

I agree. But not only that, our defensive structure is easily the worst in the competition when it comes to opposition kick outs. I reckon we are the easiest team to transition from end to end when the opposition gets a kick out opportunity. Often with NO pressure whatsoever. I think opposing coaches are licking their lips every time we score a behind as it presents them with a great chance to launch a forward attack from their defensive half.

Seriously, is there any other team that allows end to end goals as easily as we do?? The Bulldogs game really highlighted how little pressure we put. This has absolutely nothing to do with our players lack of skills, so I can't see why we can't improve in this area. It is simply proper coaching to get our set up right and for the players to execute and apply pressure and work rate. Look at Hawthorn. They have perfected their zone so well that it is extremely difficult to get it out of the defensive half.

You shouldn't post this sort of information on the boards Gus because it allows the opposition to read into our weaknesses. ;D

I think the only way to support this is through the stats, maybe someone can support this? One thing for sure we have been shafted on the scoreboard by our turnovers and that is a fact.

Another thing I noticed especially last night was the ease the opposition moved the ball after a kick out, our boys did not zone up when West Coast kicked out and before we knew it was half way down the ground. On the otherhand we seem to hold on the ball way too long before we kick it out allowing the opposition to man us up making it difficult to move the bal out quicker.
