stuff that irks me

Share it around. Surely with only one game on, it would still draw well.

A lot of people don't realise that it was Richmond and Collingwood that played the first ANZAC clash in 1977 and that game drew 91,936 spectators!

Scores:
Coll 17.24.126
Rich 14.16.100

What Irks me:

Dermott Brereton (as a commentator)

He is the most biased media commentator of all time. You can't say anything bad about Hawthorn players, as he always has some *smile* excuse to defend them. For example, when Trent Croad came back to Hawthorn, they played him up forward, and he was really struggling. Anthony Hudson said this on the Run Home on SEN one day, and his response was,
" No Anthony, thats not true, Croady was excellent on Saturday, as he was the only
Hawthorn forward to lead directly at the ball carrier". When Huddo stood his ground on this issue, Brereton resorted to inviting Huddo outside the studio to settle their differences.

He also speaks the most complex verbal diarrhea, ever in the history of radio broadcasting. I know this is going back nearly a decade, but in a game in the late 90's, on Triple M he said:

"Richardson dropped that overhead mark, as he is fatiguing in the fingertips"

& the Pies & Essendon are the ones who have turned it into a modern day blockbuster.

I woiuld go back and quote all those who have argued with me, but my post would end up a page long.

Fact is, whether I'm right or wrong ... Collingwood & Essendon now Anzac Day footy, whether we like it or not. So why get upset about it?

14 other clubs whinging about it ... Ain't going to change it.

Aaah good ol' Dermutt the mental midget!

We've got a long thread for stupid comments made by him.

Time for a revisit & a good laugh!

Golden haired boys of the media.

Had to put up with Hird for years. Even when he didn't play particularly well it was still Hird Hird Hird. Now Hird's gone the media have made Gary Ablett the new golden child. Two weeks ago Bartell has 38 touches and got a good but nothing flash write up in the media. A week later Ablett gets 35 and he's being hailed as the best player in the comp. Very unfair.

What really gets up my nose is the amount of Sunday Football Richmond plays and that with Richmond being one of the big 4 Victorian clubs and not even getting a look in for a Friday night game this year.

Hence then we have to put up with the Channel 7 so called coverage on a Sunday?, where 1 goal gets kicked to then 7 commercials there after and the replay games for 3 very long hours, so my question would then be, would Collingwood and Eddie put up with this? ::)

It seems because of The AFL'S obligations to Collingwoods,"oh" I mean Eddie's requests of never travelling and playing their 19 games at the "G", that sides like ours gets the short end of the stick!! :vomit

Collingwood leave their poor excuse for a ground and now Collingwood seem to run the show at the "G"???
When are the AFL going to wake up about the fixturing of games? If Collingwood played 5 interstate games like most other sides, this would then make it a more even playing field and sides like ours don't miss out every year!!!.

Lastly "WHAT REALLY IRKS ME IS ANDY :blah MAHER" in that, he ruins 2 shows that I love dearly, and thats, SEN Breakfast Show and Before the Game, because really he's a guy with a degree in journalism with a big mouth and no personality,
So why then does he get the privledge to be on these shows and to be a boundry rider for that matter?????? :help :frustration

That was 1977 I think. 92,000. Tommy Hafey's first game coaching against Richmond.

I was at that game!

I was sittting in the aisles up in the top deck of the northern stand.

I was a young lad but one memory stood out of a Richmond supporter waving a shovel and steel bucket. ;D

You wouldn't be allowed to do that these days!
