Would it be possible/likely an AFL club or supporter would sue the AFL in regards to not offering a level playing field.

- The draw is biased, eg: Scumwood not travelling as much as other teams.

- "Blockbusters" are biased towards some clubs. Scumwood again.  This would be a huge selling point for sponsors and how much did they say the two teams would earn on ANZAC day.  I believe teams should earn these games, eg: Grand Final replays, best teams over past 3 years...  Just because they may have initiated the idea doesn't give them sole custody, otherwise North own Friday nights, as they were the first to embrace the concept I believe.

- Not scheduling teams at their home grounds, eg: MCG for our home games.

I'm sure there are other biases, would be interested on others thoughts on the subject. :police:

I've always said that the 2 best victorian teams from the previous year should always play the anzac day game....
ie. this year geelong and st kilda would have played off

Would be interesting to see whether they would pull the same crowd numbers.

Anzac day is supposed to be about a shared heritage. It is supposed to belong to all. What we have with the current set up is disgusting. We have ownership of the day in the hands of 2 clubs.

This is the exact opposite of the all for one, one for all myth of the ANZAC tradition. But it reflects the reality of this fairly sick franchise and dollar world. Everyone should be in a rage at this.

I also beleive that the game should be played between the 2 best performed teams ...it is a joke and a disgrace that the Anzac Trophy can be owned like this. What about the digger's who love another team and fought for democracy and merit as oppossed to might and hegemony...they are being laughed at.

Interesting question. I think there are possibly two instances over recent years when a club or player might have successfully sued the AFL.

1 Back in 2002? when the Tigers traded their no4 pick for Kane Johnson and weren't aware that the AFL had already decided to take away Carltons first two picks as a penalty for draft cap breaches, which action subsequently increased the value of the pick we had already sent to Adelaide. The AFL'S conduct, after the trade period had concluded, compromised the draft, which should have entitled us to compensation for the damage it did to the real value of our first pick. CC tried to get us as second rd pick as compensation but took no further action when Demetriou told him to bugger off.

2 In 2003? Sheedy worked up a very dodgey trade deal to force Rawlings to cross to the Dogs from Hawthorn in the preseason draft, and land Essendon the no 6 pick. Basically Hawth, Ess and the Dogs conspired to prevent him from getting to North and in doing so acted in restraint of trade. He could have sued the AFL for failing to intervene.

The problem is that the AFL has become so powerful that  most Clubs are too scared to take them on. Eddie is an exception.

I want to know what out beloved president is doing about this for next year? As a matter of fact, who the hell is our president these days? What does he look like? What does he represent? Is he alive? I wouldnt know him if I clashed heads with him in the street??

Gary who????

We could take up a class action against the RFC on the grounds of both "mental cruelty" and also "cruel and unusual punishment" for the last 25 years.

We are becomming so American - we want to sue anybody at the drop of a hat.

Leave the ANZAC Day game the way it is - as it is becoming an annual event on Australia's sporting calendar!

(Just like the Dream-Time game will become for the Tigers)

I'd like to see someone at Richmond sue the umpires for prolonged discrimination. Maybe we could get a judge like the one Ben Cousins got and finally start getting a fair go and maybe some Brownlow winners.

Chins up fellow PREnders.......

Once the tigers recruiting, coaching and endeavours start bearing fruit.....ALL OF YOU will be in awe of the sleeping giant that the Richmond Football Club really is....believe you me....

Its just getting the team onto a roll thats all......

The idea would be not to gain money directly from the AFL, just a fair share. Its not just the ANZAC day game, its also about the draw and other isolated games that gain the focus of the media and puplic.

McGuires response to other clubs who want to share in the Anzac day game is that Collingwood and Essendon were the original creators of the event, and that is true, but! if things were only available to the creators there would never be any competition in life. North Melbourne would be the only team playing on Friday night. The Sydney Swans would be the only interstate team etc etc. It's time to allow the other clubs to experience the big day.
