Has anyone got any ideas for the best pubs around inner City or inner suburbs of Melbourne to watch the GF? There must be some around that have a $30 or so entry that provides lunch and a few drinks etc?

Criteria includes:

Big Screens for good viewng

BBQ

Maybe drinks included in entry (or some at least)

A few tunes played after the game

Sweeps (B.O.G, Norm Smith, Winner & Margin etc)

Hopefully a few here have a regular haunt for Grand Final and wouldn't mind sharing the secret?

I was going away for the weekend but the bloke organising it pulled out and stuffed us right up!

Not happy foxy >:(

Anyway thanks for any suggestions.

Royal Hotel Punt Rd has some recommendations from posters about it

So close you can smell the game among other things.

If you're in Singapore then the Bungee Bar or One Night Stand are having Grand Final parties.

Grand Final Day

I love Grand Final day depsite the fact we're never there.  It would be great to hear about the traditions people have for the day, how they'll be spending it etc.

I love being home all day on GF day.  We get in enough food and drink for those who decide to happen by throughout the day.

I get up and sloth around, watching the under 18's still in my tiger jamies.  I miss the reserves but that gives me time to get in the shower and get dressed while some of the hoo-ha is on.  I'm not a big fan of the pre-game entertainment.

We have "footy" kind of food.  Pies, hot-dogs etc that I wouldn't eat in a mad fit on any other day of the year. :vomit and usually a barbie or go out that night depending on who's still around.

Is anyone actually going to the GF?  If so I am jealous.  I've never been to one and some day I hope to get a ticket somehow, no matter which teams are playing.

The thing I love about the siren to end the GF is that all club's are on level pegging again and it's time to dream about next year's success.

I'm going Rosy, been an AFL member has allowed me to go to Grand Final since 1990.

We usually get there about 11 have a walk around to breath in the atmosphere and and listen to some radio stations and spot some footballers. Walk into ground around 1pm -1.30pm and then never in a hurry to leave the ground after the match.

When I lived on the farm in the early 90's Afl area was not ticketed but based on first in first served with gates opening 9am.

We would get up at 3am to get the cows in to milk before leaving at 6am to be there by 9am. We would stop off on way home in Geelong for pub meal and be home about 10pm which made for a long day (especially when the games in 91,93,94,95 were crap).
