Let's not forget that Carlton had 17 more scoring shots than Richmond.
Luckily for Richmond, they were all behinds, but really, that should have been 10 goals 7, and we should have lost by over 60 points.
We were totally outplayed and only in some passages in the second quarter did we ever get the better of Carlton.
Considering Carlton probably are going to end up in the bottom half of the ladder, based on the first round's performance, we should be earmarked for a bottom four finish.
Having said that though, I thought there were plenty of positive signs.
- Both Joel Bowden (Fevola should have kicked 6) and Kane Johnson played terrible games that will never be repeated this year
- Polak has come to Richmond to play
- the use of handball was excessive on Sunday, but the general approach, to use handball to enable runners to run, will win us games when it gets ironed out as the year progresses
- we're clearly underdone and improvement will come as players get it together
