The Swans will rotate the captaincy among 6 players until the end of the year. So, by September they will be without a captain - or are all six going to hold the Cup aloft?

It looks to me like they have a leadership vacuum and don't have any plans after August.

I'm not a fan of this St.Kilda captaincy rotation rubbish. Brett Kirk looks the man for the job, maybe Jude Bolton. I'm not sure about Bazza Hall. They should just pick the best man for the job. If they have to rotate them all through the rest of the year they probably have a shortage of genuine leaders and are hoping a bloke steps up.

I cant see why they cant just pick one for the remainder, surely it wouldnt really make a difference.

Maybe they need to hire our "consultants" to help them go through the "process" of selecting the obvious choice?

On the face of it this comment seems crazy. The Swans seemingly have a very good list. For the likes of me I can't see why they are playing such poor football. Pre season I pencilled them in for a top 4 berth. Their win against the Lions earlier in the season promised much. Also they have a great spearhead in Hall! WTF is going on at Sydney? Roos's position as coach should be square in the spotlight not the captaincy.

With the ugly brand of football that Sydney is producing with only occaisional wins Roos will be under the pump.

The Swans have gone into their shells like they did under Rocket Eade in his last year or two.

They should have gone with the great suntanned one rather than the all round good guy as their coach.

Colless is probably thinking the same thing at the moment.

The Swans are their own worst enemy. While its good to have a home ground advantage that all interstate sides have it also can do more harm than good. The Swans will go nowhere until they bottom out.Finishing in the lower 8 of the top 8 each year will never get a side who,s list is ok at best anywhere.

Maybe the problem is that none of the 6 have put their hands up to capt that awful, depressing brand of a football team. Who the hell would want to have to explain that gameplan to the media every week.
"Um, oh, we just figured we'd try and kill all interest in football so nobody will notice we haven't won a flag in 769 years."
Hope none of them captains a win. One of my most hated entities at the moment, those swans.

Eade was saying on White Line Fever last night that he did an exercise in the pre season with the players. He asked who considered themselves senior players (at the Dogs) only 8 players stepped accross to the other side.

When he did the same thing at the Swans, Kirk walked over to the seniors group (he was a rookie at the time). Says a bit about the bloke I reckon, and I think he will get the gig.

Swannies say no finals for us eh! Demetriou will be choking on his Cognac in his Ivory tower reading that, surely the AFL CEO will step in personally again to sort these rebels from Sydney out hahahaha and force them to win to maintain an interest in AFL in the world heartland of Rugby League!!! Maybe a couple more concessions and a few extra million in the salary cap to get em back up there!!!
Good luck to the Swannies and Roosy for playing a worse brand of footy than anything we the tiges provided the comp with last year hahaha Up Yours Demetriou u cicaphantic dictator :hihi

You are not alone TBH!  Bake the pie big enough to share around, there are plenty who must enjoy it too. I for one had Sydney out of the eight becuase I cound't see how they were going win a ruck contest! Darren Jolly stood up manfully and now is one of the smartest trade moves going around! :clap

My original post was really just poking fun at a time when the Swans were playing "unattractive football" and weren't prepared to back anyone in their leadership group. They've had the last laugh but that's fine with me - their win is a good news story for all clubs that have been starved of success.

It was a shame, though, that Maxfield missed out on leading the team to glory. Then again, he should never have left Punt Road.

Some interesting comments from learned posters mb and j2r. ;D :clap

They sure know their football.
