Swans game umpiring threads [Merged]

umpiring all the swans way again

Swans forwards were playing from behind pushing our guys in the middle of the back. Taking the mark and kicking the goal. What is going on Giesch - are only Richmond players penalised for hands in the back

They got at least 5 goals from missed frees.

Does RFC ever take up crap umpiring with the AFL?

"Would be interested to know if others were as frustrated with the umpiring as I was today. I think they actually influenced the game in an unbalanced way. Not in regard to the number of frees each side got but by the nature of them. I'll watch the replay during the week and see if I'm being unfair but everyone around us was going berserk at some of the decsions and non-decisions we got. There were touches in the back, chopping arms and holding the ball decisions that didn't appear to be the same rules for both sides."

Agree wholeheartedly - the facts as I see it are that the..................

1. Umpires hate us more than any other team..... and
2. Essendon is not far behind!!!!

We did after the West Coast game and after the Freo game last year. It probably has the reverse of the desired effect once the media get hold of it - I think the umpires get their backs up at being criticised publicly. Maybe if it was done discreetly it would have an effect, but then again Gieschen would probably conduct a review and say there were two umpiring errors for the game.

Sh!t umpiring, sh!t draw, sh!t year; hopefully we'll get a better run in 2008.

The standard of bias is so predicable that I no longer expect it to be fair and consistant. IMO the club complaining has achieved nothing either to the point they only cop fines. The AFL are a shambles & the continued man handling of rules by a select few are the primary cause of this whole mess.

If anyone honestly thinks it will improve, slap yourself to ensure your awake. Latest is they are looking at further changes for next year with no scope of amended the crap we are seeing now. I further still blame the umpires for not being consistant to both teams on the day.

Good to see the AFL have removed the "hands in the back rule" because it didn't apply on Saturday night! 8)

Hands in the back rule definitely didnt apply saturday night.

And didn't the umpiers love Big Bad Bazza, especially in the 2nd qtr.

Definite Push in the Back in the goal square and kicked a goal, then kicked a great goal getting rid of 2 of our players and snapping through, but ran 25 steps!!!

Shocking!

They seem to be more lenient towards forwards as Rodan kicked a similar goal yesterday, yet they pinged Ray Hall on the last line of defence in Perth last year.

Maybe the club could take it up with the afl to make it retrospective to earlier in the year. Interesting to note that all those in the media stating at the time of the essendon game, that Richo needs to adapt and it was definately in the back, have not said a single word about recent games :o

The umpiring this year has been abysmal!!!

There is no doubt that they umpire on reputation....by that I mean if Judd/Cousins/Kerr or other elite players get tackled the umpires definitely cut them some slack to try to shake the tackle or do something 'special' with the ball.
The lower sides with greatly inexperienced players are not afforded the same 'time',and thus get pinged a lot more.
It might be a subconcious thing but none the less its there.

Its almost like they are thinking, "Ok Judd's been caught......he might get out of this.....(still no whistle)....hold on will he wont he........yep,thats ok he got rid of the ball.

With th lower sides its,"Thursfields been caught......he wont get out of that......whistle....free kick against"

Not sure what the answer is but it stands out like dogs nuts!

And Johnson gets fined for running (?) into Chamberlain... :P

From AFL.crap

Johnson accepted a $2400 sanction for making contact with umpire Ray Chamberlain during Saturday's match against the Sydney Swans at the SCG.

He has adapted, he let Bolton barge back into him the other night after he'd put himself in prime position to mark.

Richmond hardly ever get a holding the ball decision.

Why do the umpires hate our guts so much?

I really do not know why, but it does come across like that. >:(

Oh, by the way did you know that Geischan was a sacked Richmond FC coach ? >:D
