Reading one of the hundreds of GF articles, forget which one or where.  It contained some comments by Ricky Barham the Sydney recruiter.  He emphasises that they have a strict “no dik heads policy”.  Those were his exact words.  They interview all potential draftees or trades to assess whether they are a DH or not.

Pretty amazing, and makes a lot of sense.  He reckons it plays a big part in their team ethic. (maybe that's why they baulked at Otto?, just a thought).

If you believe in the theory that you are only as strong as your weakest link, then the policy seems fair enough in a multi-million dollar industry. It's not a benevolent institution ;)

This is a top post and an even better policy for recruiting.

I would also say it is very appropriate to the Fevola to Richmond debate. Take note GM and TW, no trouble makers at Tigerland.

Quite a lucid post compared to Saturday evening Hymie. :cutelaugh

Just read the article. Sydney place a lot of credence on the psychological profiles of the draftees. They just won a flag, so its obviously working for them.

Hmmmm....... interesting. Certain comments I've heard about one recent recruit tend to make me think that their policy of no DH's isn't very rigid.

And what about another player...David Spriggs....didn't Bomber Thompson and Geelong have a bit of an issue with his attitude ?

Again, I dunno just how rigid that policy is. ;)

Looks like Nick Davis and Barry Hall were exempt.

you could argue hall was aa DH when they first got him.

he was a DH, interesting to see what a change of scenery does to people. Good thing with Barry going to Sydney was that there is hardly any media pressure up there about AFL.

How did Davis survive or even get up there? He is has his head so far up his *smile* it aint funny!

If that is the case at Tigerland the following would axed tomorrow=

Pettifer and Gilmour!!!
