Sydney Stack

On Cousins my thought have been over the years and meeting him , inmature good fella, champion footballer and somebody who suffers majorly from an addiction. I’ve always thought he was very appreciative of the Richmond footy club, that he called time as he knew his addiction had got him again and he didn’t want to bring the Tiges down for what they’d done for him.

On Syd Stack, massive year of adaptation for him , hopefully he can see where his talents can take him and what a quality life he has the opportunity to live

I don't. I hope his kids find peace. A junkie is a junkie. The further he can be away from our players, the better. Let him go annoy the West Coke players. He was with us for 5 seconds anyway.

You hope he doesn't find peace? He is a human being for god's sake. Maybe its people with opinions like yours that should be extricated from the general populace.

I think we may have let Cousins down. Don’t really know but unless he was using during his time at the club, the decision to let him go (rather than put him on staff to continue in a Hodge like role), immediately made him vulnerable.

Rubbish. We gave him a lifeline when no-one else would. Cousins was a lost cause. Some people you just can't help. Read his book and you'll get a good idea as to why he couldn't be helped.

It seems clear that he was using before he arrived and again immediately after he left.
While he was with us he would have been monitored closely by I think it was WADA at that time? I understand that only the player and club Doc were privy to testing results. And those results were meant to be confidential.
The rest is speculation.
The AFL has special rules in place for players who have issues n they do not record strikes against while the player with known issues has medical intervention to assist them through their issues. WADA would have had absolutely *smile* all to do with Cuz issues.
No need for speculation at all, unless you're happy to play ostrich n pretend nothing ever happened, everyone knows the problems Cuz had right through that period, it was simply sat on by everyone concerned in the hope that somehow he'd get himself sorted.

You are suggesting an agreement between AFL and Richmond to allow Cousins to continue to play in a period when he was detected to be regularly useing. That’s a huge allegation.

Sydney seems a little off tonight. perhaps a move to the midfield and follow Fyfe for a while to get his hands dirty?

The reverse torpedo was a great goal.

This boy has great awareness and footy IQ.

Still had 3-4 touches of rolled gold class. The torp goal just a bonus. Very very hard for Short to get back in.

Yeah - a few blemishes tonight which is not a criticism - just reality
But to consider he’s a kid who has played half a dozen games - he’s going along nicely

Love this kid.
He makes up for Flora,Tambling, Griffens, Vickery, Lennon, Pettifer, Ellis X2 and Nason. :hihi

No ya bloody peanut.
Footy clubs do not get any info from the AFL or the medical people regarding anything to do with a players drug issues. The AFL has been using a very large broom n a high pressure hose for years to wash n sweep drug issues under the carpet. The only time a player gets any sanction is if they get busted for performance enhancing drugs on match day by the occasional random testers, or by the Plod while they are napping in the gutter. If a player has admitted to illicit drug issues and is receiving treatment for those issues he then gets tucked away from any further scrutiny for reasons of medical n mental health being private.

Anyway, this is the Stacka thread. We should be discussing how enthralling young Stacka's performances have been on here n leaving all the Cuz stuff for another thread somewhere else. My apologies for helping to drag this thread way out of position n context.
