Sydney Stack

Another composed game today. Love the way he gets out of sticky situations, he’s confident out there

Was that Sydney who charged down as they say in rugby a kick that would have led to a near certain hirfrn goal in third quarter...about the 50?

He is the best first year player I’ve seen in our colours. He beats Cotchin, Martin, Knights & McKellar

Haha, those were the days! Hoping guys like Laffy, Leys, Gwillam & Nixon could stop Ablett, Dunstall, Lockett, Modra and Rocca kicking less than double figures!
Ps. Love SS, just soooo composed.

we don't hear Stacks name in media without the so called 'troubled upbringing' also being mentioned. Does anyone know what this really means? what were his issues??

It's just so hard to belief seeing every time we hear him talk he just comes across as a very nice young man. He talks so well its hard to think that recruiters would have spoken to any other version stacky than what we see!

I agree, even the freo game his uncle playing the Didge, he constantly refers to his family yet from what ive read the kid was basically couch surfing the last 2 years...

Great video on the club website. Stack speaks well and seems very grounded and prepared for hard work.

Yeah I thought exactly that myself. For a guy with these supposed 'issues' in the past or whatever which led to us getting him, he spoke very well. You get a strong impression that (a) he's not stupid (and let's face it, some are dills even if brilliant at what they do); and (b) there's some real substance to him - genuine quality and not at all rehearsed media-speak. So all in all, pretty reassuring.

It's even harder to fathom how in the hell he slipped through.

Yeh, he's a street smart guy who respects the opportunity. He appreciates his position and is not afraid to put his body on the line. He should be in AA back pocket discussions, he is rarely beaten and does everything right. Not one opposition back pocket I'd prefer over him. I don't think the rest of the AFL community realise yet just how good he is.

according to AFL hacks, he's 'formerly troubled' now. :hihi

shatters the troubled black stereo type, as well as AC joints and collarbones, does our Stackman.

He's a ripper.

I love him.

Oh me too Easy, for sure.

Every week since he debuted, I've just been left shaking my head at this one. Okay they say it's the second year, which is the toughest - something like that. But from what I see, I just cannot see him being 'found out' on the field. So that only leaves off-field, and I can't really see that either.

Spot on

And some of the clips of him playing over in Perth (last year I'm assuming) show him doing the same sort of things he's been doing for us this year at AFL level.
So he must have always had that ability and coolness to work his way through close contests.
And still every Club passed him over in the drafts.

Geez we're fortunate to have him.

maybe it was Matty Clarke gave him a flask of Jim bean at the national champs and cranked up the troubled rumour?

8-

yes, we are so lucky.

I've said before we were one of those clubs that passed him over, that could have been a massive mistake but we are indeed FORTUNATE that he now plays in Yellow & Black.

Our recruiters were not guru's here, they got lucky!

You have to give the recruiters credit though for inviting Sydney to train before any other club's had the chance - that is not luck.
