Taking a look at the doggies i am jealous

Claw I can see your point ogf view and its valid ..to an extent
I was disaponted not in Roden being re signed on a 2 yr profmance based contact 9happy about that  :)..)
I really belive Roden was treated badly by Frawley and  had to play second fiddle to Frawleys Fave Player Krak...Roden is a 22 yr old rover we need that type of player

However Claw  I would have like to see players like Tiva , Stafford and Chaffy move or give it away so we could have 6 picks . I believe that Tiva would have gone to the Kangas if the Hay deal had fallen through but really apart from North most teams are not intersted in the players we have to trade .this makes it hard for GM ..

Agree about Tiv and Staff although on balance I think that Chaff did enough last season to warrant being kept on in 06, to complete his contract.

Rodan on the other hand is a very exciting player, with a huge upside.I expect him to be one of our best in 06 and every chance to finish top 5 in the Jack.

Claw,

You were complaining about Rodan being overpaid, well in your scenario we would have had to pay someone (or several someones) way over the odds to make the minimum on the salary cap.

It's called List management and it has components of team structure, age of list, payments (minimum and maximum), managed turnover, developing a team culture, getting the right mix in the club room as well as on the park, etc. etc. etc.

That's why GM and Paul Armstrong get paid so much.  They know how to do this.
hk i dont give a fat rats about most of the above.rodan should be paid what hes worth and imo thats probably less than hes been getting.my biggest gripe with the club is caving in to his demands of a 2 yr contract. rodan is at a stage where he has to show hes worthy of a long contract and perform to a stisfactory standard next yr.because the reality is the club will be or should be looking to get rid of him if he doesnt meet that standard come the end of 2006.
as for millers list management and recruiting strategies well i think hes failed miserably.
You dont give a rats arse about what HK just said.hmmmmmmmm seems logical to me.Rodan will be getting less than what he is on NOW.Your gripe that he,s on a 2yrs contract.Big deal on his performance type contract if we choose to get rid of him after one year the better the chance that he,s on such a contract.Seems to me Claw your all huff n puff. You call everyone who doesnt share your views as ferals.Well going by this post its a bit like the Pot calling the kettle black dont you think.
you cant even reply with a good argument apart from I dont give a rats arse. ::)
i have to say i get sick and tired of the same old arguments yr in yr out yes every yr its the same and its because people keep making excuses.
when am i going to ever be able to say we have learnt from the recent past.rodan 2 yrs simmonds 5 wallace 5 krakouer 3 tivendale 3 and it goes on and on.
has anyone stopped to think what will happen if rodan has a bad yr next yr and the club decides to get rid of him but he decides hes staying put, well after 1 more bad one his value will be zilch and no one will go near him you will need a barge pole to even get close.a lot like whats happened with our players this yr no one wants them because every one but the rfc recognises they are duds.its about *smile* time the rfc made some hard decisions instead of pussy footing around trying to appease the masses all the time.
as for hks comments about list management team structure player payments managed turnover etc let me rephrase i give a fat rats arse but not when they are used in the context of defending a recurring mistake made by the club by miller and the feral hordes over the yrs.

Have we learnt so little over the under performing 20+ years.

We keep saying players have untapped potential but where is the evidence?

Rodan - people are basing it on his preseason before his knee injury.
He has shown nothing in the past years to justify this, and to say he will improve under Wallace is mere
speculation/wishful thinking by Richmond supporters .

Krakouer - Before the start of the season, I had anticipated a big improvement but alas it did not happen.
It has been stated that he is/was a project player, however the time has come to judge his performances rationally which are not up to AFL standard.

Tivendale - If he was at any other club, they would have released him by now.

It sounds as if we are doing the "Ottens" dance again, he will improve just you wait and see.

It is time that the RFC made the hard decisions, instead of going the soft option that seems to happen year after year regardless of the coach.

The time to act is now, before we are saying where has the "New Richmond Order" gone so terribly wrong.

Good post Ghost.

i dont recall roden having a bad season, he didnt have one last year so you cant use that.
if you expect all your kids to make it in their first or second year or you delist them - you wont have anyone
sometimes it takes 3 - 4 years to get the kids to come on consistently
my recolection from roden was that he was in our best 22 when he played - then gets injured
how many years has he been on the list - 3 or 4?
for memory his first year he played every game, second year was average like half the team and 3rd year out injured - have i mist a year (please correct me if im wrong)
but on those stats he deserves another 2 years

I am not jealous, good luck to them, they have been down long enough, a shame they dont have enough supporters to enjoy it.

Can't be jealous of their development, but perhaps RFC could copy the model. Richmond does have the supporters to enjoy a revival, and it's coming!

Yeah i agree extra, good on them. I hated the doggies up till a couple of years ago (mainly because of the libba knights incident) but now they are not the dirty team of the late 90's. Every doggies game I watched this year was exciting, the way they have started to play is exciting.
Dont get me wrong im tiger to the bone but being jealous wont help us. I'm only 20 so the most i've seen of tiger success is the prelim in 01. Im really starting to get excited about the future. I cant wait to see our young kids develop, and we earn some respect.
