Looking at the Western Bulldogs and the wonderful transformation over the past few years and their exceptional on and off field advancement in 05 i cant help but be jealous when i compare them to my tigers.
The tigers and Doggies have been in the same playing field result wise for the last few seasons yet their recruitment list development and improvement have so far embarrassed the tigers i feel.
Rodney Eade has taken on a wonderful young talent list that is complemented by Quality seasoned performers and a fantastic recruiting and development team that has been bolstered with specialist coaches such as Silvagni to further develop young key backs in Harris and Hargraves.
The Doggies are no longer an embarrassment with the Whitten Oval the place to be and everyone is excited about their wonderful future which will be completed with one or two quality talls and should allow for the doggies to become constants in finals contention for the ensuing years.
Which brings me to my beloved tiggies who have continued to persist with substandard players and recruit poorly on the whole disregarding the 04 draft which we couldnt possibly get wrong!
Yes Wallace is a good coach with leadership and charisma yet in my opinion he has not brought the intensity and hard edge that Eade has quickly instilled down at the doggies with his hard edged no fuss no *smile* policies which have helped to instill pride, professionalism and performance into his young side.
The tigers still on the whole lack this aura and there is nothing in the offing of recent times to suggest such a status quo will change in the near future.
Yes we have very good exceptional young talents in Lids, Blinga, Meyer and Thursfield but what have we got in regard to numbers as opposed to the doggies in young talent across the board.
The dogs have quality in Cross , Griffin , Giansiracusa , Hahn, Gilbee, Cooney , Ray , McMahon, Morris , amongst the quality guidance of stars Johnson , Smith , Darcy , Grant and the dynamic Scotty West , plus the exciting talents such as Faulkiner.
Not too mention an area in which the dogs also have the tigers covered for the future in regard to key positions and rucks , with Brian Harris , Hargraves and Minson who is a wonderful prospect.
Whilst they lack young forward strikepower for the future at the moment so does the tigers as we have virtually no exciting prospects for the near future up forward or in the ruck with Pattison a long way from being ready and Schulz not being the answer in my book as he has shown nothing apart from one or two games over 3 years which is not enough to classify him as a long term fixture as his career as a tiger could be over at years end if somthing does not happen this year for him.
As for backs we have no options for key position devlopment in defence apart from Thursfield who is a number of years away from being physically ready to take on such a role and no one else hence trucks like Hall filling the gaps which is a slight on the RFC recruitng and trading policies for last 5 -6 years.
Yes we have the fab 3 of Lids, Bling and Meyer to complement the torrid performers in Tuck and Cogs and the class of Brown Richo and Bowden but seriously the rest of our young talent is still stampped unproven and i refer to the likes of Hartigan , Jackson , Krakouer , Raines , Schulz and Roach all of whom are still unknown quantities to a certain degree entering their 3rd if not 4th seasons, and that too is a statistic that i find both damming and annoying as a tiger fan.
The point of this concern for me is that quite simply i want to see the RFC follow the lead of the doggies and rid the club of deadwood mediocre performers and instill a harder more profficient, proffessional and no nonsense approach to development, team management, tactics and performance as individuals and as a side.
Part of this is replacing sub standard players such as the Chaffeys, Tivendales , Pettifers , Halls , and a couple of others with the Hartigans , Jacksons , Thursfields , Rainses , Meyers, and Pattisons for extended periods rather than the odd game here and there so these boys can develop into senior players of quality ala the transformation of the doggies pups.
I fear that the management policy of the tigers has stagnated this year with last years forward steps following a wonderful draft being halted with the resigning of Hall and and the unproven injury suspect Rodan for 2 years rather than one and retainment of the Chaffeys , Tivendales and Pettifers and the like.
I cant help but feel that TW and Miller are under the belief that we can make the finals with our current list but i am very much in opposition to this theory.
Another poor year as a result of youthful promotion is more bearable to me than watching the same old trucks and hacks run around ruining my winters yet again leaving the tigers finishing between 10th and 16th which is where i believe we will finish 06 with a harder draw and pretty much the same dud studded list.
I love my tigers and i just would love the tigers to look at the doggies and other sides such as the WCE, Swannies and the Crows and follow their development strategies and professional approach cos i seriously feel that the tigers are crawling whereas we should be walking had we drafted and traded properly and mades some hard decisions in regard to player list management over the past 5 years.
I dont care if my fello PRE's howl at me over this but this is where i compare the dos list to ours at present

Whilst i also have grave doubts upon Limbach and Gilmore to cut it at AFL level from what i have seen of them both at VFL and VFL reserves level and i have seen a lot of vfl games this year.
It must be said the doggies pups are better advanced , skilled and lead than our cubs and the corresponding discrepancies within the two lists is embarrasin and damning!
Come on tigers get fair dinkum and change the way the club has limped along for 20 years it is not only infuriating and disheartening but also a disgraceful advertisment for so called leadership, management and direction of a once powerful mighty club that commanded respect and instilled fear in the competition rather than sooking about the lack of respect and being the butt of snide comment and jokes as it does now!
We are such a target cos we deserve to be one it is as sad and as simple as that and it is this crap that has got to change.
Get fair dinkum Wallet and Miller and start doing what is required and start making hard decisions rather than overating your list and your own abilities to make fine china out of *smile*!!! 8)
