Talbot named Captain
Tuesday 1 April 2003
Last night saw the jumper presentation night held in the clubrooms of Coburg. The night was an "in-house" affair with only players and officials invited. It was intended to not only bring the playing group closer together but to give them a focus for the upcoming start of the season. Former Carlton Coach, now Richmond Assistant, Wayne Brittain spoke to the players about earning the respect of your teammates. He challenged the players to make a mark on the VFL competition this year. Brittain went on to say that he believed the players should have full faith in coach Spargo and his commitment to the Coburg Football Club, despite his role at Richmond.

The evening concluded with the appointment of the leadership group. Last year's best and fairest, Dean Talbot, was named Captain. The appointment was yet another feather in the cap of Talbot, who in his first year of VFL football won Coburg's B+F, represented Victoria and was runner-up in the J.J. Liston medal. Ryan Pagan and Kristian DePasquale were named Vice Captains.
