Talking Politics

Channel 9 have been credibly accused of rigging the online voting system, and have been caught out on their own feed reversing the actual results. And you think that both sides are as bad as each other? You suggest that the leaders are going out for beers together after the debate like its some sort of stitch up?
Why is it so difficult for you BT? There is also an Undecided button to press. Personally, I'm not convinced by either party. OK?

Latest showed 50/50. This is close to a hung parliament so far. Neither can gain an edge.

Have you seen tonight's polling? There is a significant advantage to Labor.

I'm just pointing out that the position of of 'both sides are as bad as each other" is complete nonsense and lacks evidence to support it. You can sit on the fence all you like but to suggest that both parties are collaborating to stitch up the public, and having drinks together after the debate is garbage.

Significant? Just looking at the twitter feeds posted it shows much closer to each other, and it's been in the news for some time that a hung parliament might be happening. ALP more likely to gain and Coalition more likely to lose with just 7 seats apart. Just joking about the pub comment.

Well, why don't you stand?
Even I have standards, could never bring myself to stoop so low.

You can develop policies and present them to the voting public and see how you go.

Of course, whoever you vote for, the government gets in. Until we get a better system the best thing is to get a better government.

DS
Somehow get a better govt by selecting from the candidates on offer????????????????????????????? Yeah , Nah. Not gunna happen any time soon.
Clive's mob, Pauline's mob, Holmes a Court's mob, Labor mob, Liberal mob, Greenie mob, Fiona's mob oh wait, she's already tarted herself off to Dan's local mob n suddenly realised she doesn't like the after effects. FMD when there's nothing but crap worth choosing from, I'd rather go hungry, at least I won't give myself food poisoning.

How embarrassing for Channel 9? They should issue a public apology for at best wasting peoples time. At worst it appears they’re looking to manipulate results. Credibility shot.

My biggest fear isn't a Labor loss. My biggest fear is that this government won’t be held to account for its actions. We need to send a clear message that our elected representatives can never be allowed to act like this again. Plus, we can never allow any current government minister to ever be in power again and given an opportunity/incentive to repeat their mismanagement.

I’m tipping the Liberals will try to convince the cross benches in the senate to either fight against the introduction of ICAC or vote for a version that doesn’t make it retrospective. One National have already stated they won’t support it.
To achieve what you are after would require a Royal Commission, or even a series of Royal Commissions, one of which Albo has already promised. (This in regard to the claims made for repayment of mega sums which were actually properly paid through Centrelink)?
I agree that previous govt corruption in the different areas referred to in my earlier note, also deserves to see the light of day.

My point is that this Royal Commission system is not a good model for investigating present and ongoing instances of govt and private enterprise acts of corruption.
The example of the NSW and Victorian systems and the case of the former NSW Premier, was offered in support. Such open/ask what ever you like public investigations, make for great reading but can effectively spoil the evidence before any subsequent criminal prosecution can take place.

Rather imo, the HK system which leaves the investigation to properly trained investigators, who then bring criminal prosecutions before HK's criminal courts, is the better option.

The problem the libs have now is that afraid of going under the spotlight, no one will vote to introduce such a change.
Media opposition to the taking away of the access they presently have to lots of juicy material, (which prior to a properly initiated criminal prosecution, should not be made public), also frightens the pants off them.

Morrison's present position that no one cares is wrong. Govt corruption remains a huge issue and his refusal to act is going to burn.

We might see a minority government, but the latest polls (note, not the broken 9 Debate online poll), it's looking decidedly like an ALP majority Government,

With pre-polling opening on Monday, Newspoll has Labor leading 54-46% on a two-party preferred basis, compared to 53-47% a week before.

Albanese has narrowed the gap as better PM – his rating has risen 3 points and Morrison has fallen a point. Morrison leads by a whisker – 44-42%.

In the Ipsos poll, Labor leads the government 57-43%, compared to 55-45% a fortnight ago, and Albanese is ahead of Morrison as preferred PM 41-36%, a 3-point widening of the gap.

It's going to be a wipeout. You can't fool all of the people all of the time, and nobody likes to be made to look foolish. Plenty of those who voted LNP last time know they were played for suckers and are furious. As the saying goes, voters are heading to the polls with baseball bats. No media shitfuckery can change that now.

Question remains though as to why some are grilled publicly by IBAC but then when it comes to the grand poobah it's all done by stealth with a nice cup of tea n a bikkie to make sure he's all cosy n comfortable.
IBAC decides whether hearings/interviews are public or not. As I understand it the decision is about the investigation not the person.

last night was an absolute farce. It wasn’t a debate. It was a shouting match. The lady who hosted it was clearly not qualified to be a moderator and had no control over proceedings. Morrison was looking desperate. Must have seen the polls before it began. His rudeness and arrogance was there for all of the country to see. Albo didn’t set the world alight, but he doesn’t need to.

Polls are heading further against the Liberals. The last 2 weeks are gonna be as vicious as we’ve ever seen, but people have made up their minds.

was out in Ringwood on Saturday, needed to take a leak so dropped into the shopping centre off Maroondah Hwy. Lots of "Michael Sukkar, Local Member" banners and volunteers around - but strangely none of the signage had any mention of the Liberal Party.

I really hope Morrison loses his seat. Not just for the deserved humiliation, but because he'll resign from parliament after they lose, forcing a costly by-election. Plus, Labor is running an outstanding properly local candidate. Simon Earle's video highlights their stark differences.

I've been following Simon Earle on twitter and he’s a likeable bloke. I don’t think he can topple Morrison first time around, but I reckon he is banking on a possible by-election, where he will be a real chance.

If current trends in VIC play out on election day, Sukkar will lose his seat and Tudge will be in real trouble.

People who don't vote should shut up about politics, politicians & The state of the country.

If you don't vote you don't count.
Well said little Kimmy. How's your old mates Grandpa Xi n Putin on the ritz travelling at the moment?

Just because I don't think any of the pollies or their political parties have been much worth the time of day never mind a vote over some years doesn't mean I can't have thoughts or opinions. If you don't like them put me on ignore n enjoy yourself but telling me I'm not entitled to an opinion or thoughts on the standard of the political flotsam getting around, meh pathetic.
