Talking Politics

yeah dunno about the Keating Clare comparisons. Keating had a real nasty edge. Would cut his opponents to pieces.

First clip is Keating making Downer cry in parliament. Second is 15mins of Keating's greatest hits.

There's only one PJK. In some respects it's a miracle Australia was lucky enough to produce him. But then again, only we could have.

Gough: "You should go to university."
PJK: "Why? Then I'd be just like you."

Grapefruits, I tell ya.

Labor needs to drive this game changing document that Morrison signed into every voters consciousness over the next week.

A proper Integrity commission gets my vote over everything. Especially as this https://amp.theguardian.com/world/2...ruption-index-after-decline-to-match-hungarys

We need this to have ANY government acting in our best interests more often.

Having worked in business the threat of huge individual penalties does a lot to prevent anti competitive (monopolistic) behaviour (except in AFL ticketing for some reason). Will be no different for pollies.

Never said he was the second coming, only that he's got a bit of the 'ol PJK swagger about him.

He does.

How soon can the new government start working after winning the election? Ideally someone needs to cancel the current parliament's passports very quickly, including family, friends and business associates.

you're right,

they will run

verbally, he's the closest thing to PK as we've seen.

its a combination of a command of English,

and a confidence that the cogs in his head turn quicker than theirs

Albanese is such a lightweight. He seems so very feeble.

Which pisses me off no end considering that I hate Morrison. This is the best candidate that Labor can come up with?

I was quite amazed to read Katie Allen, LNP Higgins, arguing that you shouldnt vote for a Teal cos then the LNP will be dominated by the right and Dutton will be the leader. FFS if the Teals get up then the LNP will be in the wilderness for eternity

I saw this. I see the Liberals as a far right wannabe republican party anyway. The “moderates” have absolutely no say. The likes of Frydenberg, Wilson and Sharma placing UAP second on their how to vote cards (and the teals last) is proof of this.

Once ICAC has been through the Liberals, they will be in the wilderness for at least a decade. Let’s hope that forces them into proper reform. Or a split between the moderates and the conservatives.

Labor do have other talent. This election campaign has highlighted that. But to me, this election isn't about Labor. its voting out this government in any way possible.

Agree. Like Tommy, I'm not a big fan of Albanese either. Not sure he'll make a good PM.

However, compared to Dud-mo and this disgraceful government that he's been running, he's an infinitely better option regardless.

I've always voted the same way my entire life, and despite concerns about Albanese, it won't shift me one iota. In fact, my dislike of Dud-mo and this incompetent, rorting, worst-ever government makes it VERY easy for me to stay that way.

Albo is not the most charismatic, or the most eloquent. What he might be is the most caring. He gets cut off at Q&A before he can answer a woman's question on the NDIS - he gets her phone number, calls her after the show, listens to her concerns, answers her questions. There are so many stories of Albo over the years quietly making calls or showing up and helping out. No fanfare, no personal photographer, no publicity at all - just doing it because he cares. Imagine Morrison showing up anywhere to help anyone but himself.

I see Albo as the anti-Howard, who was one of the most charisma-free zones you'd ever see, and far from the most articulate. (Seriously, the damage done by the shift from Keating to Howard is immeasurable. We had one of the most brilliant political leaders in the world - maybe the most brilliant, and we turfed him for a dull old neo-con, soon-to-be war criminal with no plan other than to cut taxes and sell assets, and no vision other than a misty, rose-coloured rear-view ideal of the 50s - while eroding forever the ability to buy a house and raise a family on one income, like you could in the 50s, and the 60s, and the 70s, even the 80s. *smile* John Howard.)

Backwards, unimaginative, racist and myopic as they were, Howard was true to his values, which over 11 years he smeared over the Australian consciousness, bribing our greed to distract our consciences.

Albo will bring a return to decency. A return to "what is the right thing to do, for people, and the future of the nation?" He will look forward, he will listen, he will invest in our collective future.

He's exactly what we need. He's going to be great.

What a presser from ScuMo. "I know you hate me, but vote for me, I will change and be better".

I can only imagine what the Libs internal polling has come back with for ScuMo to go down this route.

Running the country isn't a one man job, although you could be forgiven for thinking so considering how frequently we hear from Scott, and how little we've heard from the likes of Tudge, Payne, Colbeck, Taylor, Reynolds, Cash, Stoker, Robert, McKenzie, and Ley, in recent times.

Albo has shown that he's an honest man (as honest as politicians go anyway) and has a competent and supportive team behind him.

100%. A strong, committed, talented, united team who can't wait to roll their sleeves up and get to work making this country a better, fairer place. Contrast that to the dumb crook incumbents who've spent the past decade lining their own pockets and those of their mates.

I want to see prison terms for some of these traitors.
