Talking Politics

I want to see prison terms for some of these traitors.

I think it's warranted in several egregious cases but I'm not holding out a lot of hope that this will occur.

If they immediately go retrospective and look into LNP skullduggery, I worry that the LNP and their msm cronies will accuse it of being partisan and like a 'Kangaroo Court' which will de-legitimize it.

That's why it has to and will be fully independent. Hopefully Albo stacks it with some righteous prosecutors.

A bulldozer? OK

what has he bulldozed? His only bill, the Religious Discrimination bill never made it to the Senate. He's done nothing except media stunts for the whole of his term. No vision, no policies.

Labor needs to drive this game changing document that Morrison signed into every voters consciousness over the next week.

Morrison actually said the sale of the Port of Darwin has nothing to do with the feds? Another shameless lie.

The Commonwealth bankroll the NT, they don't generate anywhere near the income required to run it, and has veto power over legislation. The NT can't wipe its arse without checking with the feds.

How soon can the new government start working after winning the election? Ideally someone needs to cancel the current parliament's passports very quickly, including family, friends and business associates.

Next day, just ask Gough Whitlam and Lance Barnard. They cancelled conscription the day after the election. Don't think there will be such a flurry if Albo wins as Whitlam was elected after 23 years of the Torys and needed to get started on dragging Australia kicking and screaming out of the 1950s.

It was just a pity how Howard wanted the 1950s back 20 years later.

Albo will bring a return to decency. A return to "what is the right thing to do, for people, and the future of the nation?" He will look forward, he will listen, he will invest in our collective future.

I bloody hope so, if they get in I really hope Albo is a better PM than candidate. Electioneering is not a good qualification for running the place, but it wins elections. I really hope Albo is one of those people who is better in the job than in the interview.

Aah, you identify ScoMo's one endearing feature. He might be an a*sehole, he might want to drive our wages down, he might want to give tax cuts to the rich while removing the tax break for low and middle income earners, he might want to play tough with China while giving them our Northern most port to play with . . . but at the end of the day he is totally incompetent and has achieved f*ck all.

yeah dunno about the Keating Clare comparisons. Keating had a real nasty edge. Would cut his opponents to pieces.

First clip is Keating making Downer cry in parliament. Second is 15mins of Keating's greatest hits.

Who was he talking to/about in the second part/clip? He was genuinely angry in that one.

Albanese has lifted his personal performance the last week or so. General consensus seems to be that he slightly outperformed Dud-mo in the debates, he's landed a few blows on Dud-mo and this disgraceful government and he's shown a bit of vigor and energy that was missing in the first week and a bit of the campaign.

There was definitely more spite between parties in the 20th century. Now they're virtually all soft.

Yeah looks like SmugMo is starting to wave the white flag.

Can someone lock up Dutton before he starts firing missiles at the Chinese please.

I thought they didn't comment on "on water" activities.

A Chinese spy ship near the US base at Exmouth, presumably in international waters. Is this news? Probably goes on all the time.

Nah. Boats off the WA Coast is a standard Libs play. I think they use it every election.

Albanese may not be a strong leader but he seems like a decent human so there's that.
I don't believe the ability to be a smooth talker equates to strong leadership myself. If Good leadership correlated with the ability to talk under wet cement, Morrison would be up there with Abe Lincoln.
