Talking Politics

Slurping a beer at 86 years young. What are you slurping Liebfraumilke eg your mothers milk still.

Wow, I expected a pantsing tonight, but that was Albo pulling Duttons pants down and playing a bunch of songs on his cheeks like bongos. As big a win as anyone has seen in recent memory.

Massive for both sides, gives the ALP a chance to properly govern, we all think 3 year terms are too short, that will change with this government I suspect, pushing terms to 4 years and we shall see what sort of reform they push for.

For the LNP its probably the defeat they needed to reassess what Australia needs from them. Australia spoke 3 years ago, we don't want Morisson and we don't want a further swing to the right, Dutton ignored the populace and assumed it was just a Morrison thing. Between what they have shown and the Trump dump that seems to be happening to the far right in most places of the globe (the UK is a weird one). Whether they actually listen to what the populace want, the next few years will tell us. I guess with only 33 seats, it won't be so hard to find a leader, much lower numbers to choose from now.

Much much too old for that, my dear Mum passed away 25 years ago.

Enjoying a very satisfying scotch & dry, celebrating the smashing of the LNP. :)

It looks like most of the 'teals' have retained their seats, great news. Zoe Daniel likely to win on preferences.

What a result for Albo. Most were talking about a hung parliament. Disaster for the LNP.

Come on Jane Hume, Michaela Cash, Sussan Ley …giants of Australian politics

You make my point for me.

The talented and smart women who should be pre-selected for the Libs are not being pre-selected, and the only women they do pre-select are atrocious.

Actually, there is a really good example of this. Bridget Archer is not bad. Morrison hated her and I suspect she got no support from Dutton. She would have had no support from the central campaign. She lost her seat in Northern Tassie. The decent women candidates they have are often not supported, the loonies are supported.

I think people are sick of culture wars on both sides

So this. Back to building not tearing the country apart.

And I’d never read a single word about Ali France till 9pm tonight.

She’s a hero beyond belief.

Problem for the Libs is that the only people left are not moderates. The party is screaming for the Moderates to take control but there's none left.

It will be interesting to see if they can ever come back, especially when the traditional two party voting is done and dusted.

Greens are another party that look like being relevant only in the senate.
