Talking Politics

to move the conversation to this thread, who is going to vote for Cory Bernadi party?
it is funny him criticising his former coalition colleagues for potentially breaking a pre election commitment whilst at the same time putting a party in the senate that received ZERO votes at the last election. i guess he doesnt have any commitments to worry about breaking (except the one about being a member of the Libs).

Not me.

But yeah. When Cheryl Kernot resigned from the Democrats to join the ALP she actually resigned from her senate seat as well, allowing the Democrats to place another member into that senate seat.

Bernadi of course would never do such an honourable thing.

About 15% will vote far right conservative
A similar number vote far left.
The rest of us get screwed by meaningless minorities

I don't think I will vote for him. But they would be likely to get my preference in the senate. I try and vote for rural Australia.

The above post is how I see it. And the far left will be shocked when he does as people won't own up until the polling booths so they don't get hounded by the left.

It will be interesting to see how this will effect One Nation, and how they will work together if at all.

Do you think today's accouncement helps the Green's?

I for one think it does.

The Greens need to get their house in order before they become the beneficiaries of conservative in fighting. The unfortunate truth is that all the parties have destabilising forces within. Australian politics has become a global joke and rightly so.

Right and wrong.

It's a joke yes but global no because no one actually cares about Australian politics except us . Just ask President Trunbull

will be last on the ballot behind family first, one nation, and the LNP for mine.

I think what Bernadi is doing is ridiculous (although great for us lefties). over the past 20 years the LNP have gradually moved from centre right to hard right, and have now reached a stage where their conservative factions have most of the power and influence. so why would he wanna leave now? is it because he wants to take advantage of the rise of fascism around the world (and one nation locally)? I can imagine nutters such as Bernie Finn and Geoff Shaw wanting joining this party.

i dont mind Jacqui Lambie at times, but i reckon she showed her true colours on Q & A on Monday. This is not meant as a criticism of her views, but rather how she discusses issues.
She lacks substance in most of her arguments, so she resorts to yelling and insulting. She spits out cliches and attacks people who disagree with her. She does exactly what she criticises other pollies for doing.
Unfortunately some voters love it.

Wow, Peta Credlin admitting that the ALPs carbon tax wasn't actually a tax (as many of us said) and that the LNP termed it as such as a scare campaign:

And what did that buy us? A half term from the guy who gave Prince Phillip a knighthood. :hihi

I know the decision was made by the independent umpire, but all labor needs to do to win the next election is to promise to legislate the return of double time on Sunday.

They could probably go into the election with the exact same policies as the last election (negative gearing/CGT reform being the biggest) and get over the line because home ownership rates will have dropped by another few %.

Of course, I expect them to ditch these policies as soon as they get into office.
