Barnaby Joyce confirmed a kiwi dual citizen.

You should the outrage in the Hun this morning. When it was the Greens, everyone dumped on them saying what a bunch of nincompoops they were and what a shambles the Greens are as a party.

Now when it's a Liberal and Turnball only has a one seat majority, ALL OF A SUDDEN it's the constitution that needs changing because it's a stupid rule anyway.

:hihi

Maybe the affair is an epic troll by the Greens who had inside info on all their enemies' citizenship statuses. Took the high moral ground then sat back and let the chaos unfold.

LNP imploding as we speak, making up conspiracy theories, creating a diplomatic incident. It all reeks of desperation.

Talking about diplomatic incidences, I think any politician who is refused entry to the USA should be sacked as well. ;D

Sounds fair to me :hihi

Australian Sex Party to become the Reason Party

August 22 2017, Benjamin Preiss

The Australian Sex Party will come to an end this week, with founder Fiona Patten set to deregister the party and unveil a new political party to reach more voters.

Ms Patten, who founded the Sex Party in 2009, is set to launch the Reason party on Tuesday, in an effort to appeal to a broader base ahead of state and federal elections.

The Sex Party originally had strong links to the Eros Foundation, which represents businesses in the adult film industry. But Ms Patten said the foundation played no official part in the new party and had already begun moving away from the Sex Party.

Ms Patten, who was outside Flinders Street Station on Monday handing out how to vote cards on same sex marriage, said the Reason Party would continue to advocate for key Sex Party policies, including legalisation of illicit drugs and euthanasia laws.

She intends to be the "voice of reason" in politics today, she said, with the party putting personal freedom and respect for human rights at the centre of its political philosophy.

"People are sick of irrational politics. Many are deeply concerned about the future of our country," she said.

The major parties are debilitated by factionalism, corruption and political deadlock. Now it's extremists who hold the balance of power," she said.

She said the party would draw inspiration from the recent French election in a bid to appeal to a broader base. She was particularly impressed by Mr Macron's performance against populist opponent Marine Le Pen.

"Macron really identified with that disaffected voter. Sadly our young voters are the most disaffected voters of all – they don't know a time when they were interested.

"He was kind of radical because he was so sensible."

Ms Patten has been regarded as a highly effective member of Victoria's upper house since being elected in 2014.

She successfully lobbied the Andrews government to introduce buffer zones against protesters around abortion clinics and fought hard to legalise ridesharing services including UberX.

Ms Patten has also campaigned to introduce euthanasia laws in Victoria.

Meredith Doig, who ran as a Senate candidate for the Sex Party at the 2016 federal election, has been appointed secretary.

The party has committed to improving the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, women and regional Australians. It also wants to "redress the inequality" where the majority of wealth in Australia is concentrated among a small number of extremely rich people.

very happy to hear this. I think people considered the Sex Party to be a bit of a joke because of the provocative name but their policies are great and Fiona Patten is an excellent politician. Bring on Reason Australia!!!

Yep, good move. "Sex party" was and always would've seen them as something of a novelty party. I don't agree with all their policies but I'd prefer them to many other parties!

I wasn't impressed with all the love for George Brandis this past week. He's a guttersnipe who was tossed up a pud and hit it over the fence. So what? You know what I would have liked to see? I would have liked it if the speaker (president? what do you call them in the Senate?) had announced to the chamber that the idiot under the rug was Hanson and then continued on with business without referring to her again. Make her sit there like a moron and deny her the weeks coverage and the TADA! moment she craved.

It was terrible grandstanding by GB, he was trying to play the "honest" politician but he knew he'd get lauded for his "honesty".

I thought he was spontaneous and honest, spoke from the heart. And I hate Brandis normally :hihi

Brandis was being himself. As I said he's a guttersnipe. Hanson is low hanging fruit. Fire off a 'heartfelt' tirade at Abbott or at Malcolm Roberts or George Christiansen and I'll think about giving him credit. But my criticism was more about the kudos he got from the press gallery. Tin ear that lot. Got misogyny speech wrong. Got this one wrong. IMO of course.

Don't forget Fiona Nash, Larissa Waters and Scott Ludlam.

Don't care much on balance, liked Ludlum, but to have those 2 crooked hilbilly nutcases gone is just fantastic.
