and on pt 3, you forgot a minimum wages and immigration laws. if companies could offer workers next to nothing, and hire from overseas when needed they would be able to make bigger profits, and reduce some prices.

Now you're talking. Win win.

how far into the earth should private property rights extend?

Good question, at the very least access to underground resources requiring access from the top surface should require the consent of the land surface property owners.

I didn’t forget it. Barriers to imports (that includes labour) and wage fixing (which the minimum wage is). Yes they would be able to, you are correct.

Do we get free movement of labour to chase the highest wages with that free movement of capital, or are company profits more important than people?

Im glad you didnt forget it. Australia needs more sweatshops.

Scarily i probably agree with you on the first point.

Sweatshops can’t compete in Australia, workers are too productive given the amount of capital invested. Making it easier for foreign labour to compete with local labour wouldn’t change that. In fact it would make sweatshops less economical world wide as they’d be less unskilled labour in capital poor countries to compete for wages.

In any case aren’t you a fan of unchecked immigration?

Aren't you a fan of a free market in labour? If so, then you are a fan of unchecked immigration. After all, immigration laws are a restriction on the free market.

I believe in private property rights, so it is up to the land owners to decide who can come onto their property. The more labour can freely move, the better the division of labour can operate and the better off we all are.

Wow, what an obtuse answer.

Hey, what happens when private property rights and the free market clash? Which one should take precedence on planet Giardiasis?

Pretty obvious DS, private property rights.

I look forward to our immigration policy being decided by airport, and port, and beachfront property owners.
