Talking Politics

Fair call. I just worry about these so called Independent and new to politics people who are not the answer. When will we get a batch of politicians who actually care?

I'd prefer a motivated independent over a generational politician any day of any week! eg Rebekha Sharkie or Georgina Downer...?

Waste of time in a Government with a majority. Only seek to weaken others and generally so poorly supported they don't deserve / have not earnt the spot anyway. But that is another story.

Julian Burnside standing for the Greens in Kooyong, against Treasurer Josh Frydenberg. He'll win. This fraudulent, incompetent, corrupt government is going to be decimated.
Referring to any government as fraudulent, incompetent and corrupt is tautological.

I don't know whether they would start caring, but if everyone voted independent, i bet politicians would start listening.

Kooyong is a big ask, can't see the Libs losing that one . . . then again, Wentworth?

Still think it won't happen but the swinging vote is much larger these days as is the vote for minor parties.

DS
I live in Kooyong. There is a massive anti Frydenberg push going on in the electorate, not just around Julian Burnside but before he indicated his candidacy.
Frydenberg is just a LNP Government parrot seemingly incapable of an independent thought, much like his neighbour in Higgins Parrot O'Dwyer. The LNP won't get voted out in those electorates by parrots from another party i.e. ALP parrots. The only hope is an independent and it's why I think Julian Burnside would have had a better chance as an independent rather than as a Green.

Agree. Do a little research on him. See some of his responses when challenged on some “homophobic “ commemts he made a few years ago.

Tosser.

Little chance of getting elected IMO.

Good to see milo let in.
I don’t know much about what he talks about but free speech is ok.
If you don’t agree, don’t listen.

No doubt Lefties will be at his events injuring hard working police again.

Whether an individual agrees or disagrees with Julian Burnside is up to them but he is no fraud. He passionately believes in causes and has created charities to provide free legal services and accomodation for refugees as well providing enormous amounts of probono legal representation himself.

Of course he is a barrister and QC and I would assume he also does lots of work for which he is very well remunerated.

Think what you like about his views but he is no fraud.

So free speech is fine for Milo but not for Australian citizens protesting against what he says?

It's not what DDT said David.
As long as it's a peaceful protest in an orderly manner it is

Fine so long as he pays his police bill, which he hasn't.

So free speech is fine for Milo, so long as free speech is fine for "Australian citizens" protesting Milo's free speech, so long as you aren't arseholes when protesting and then expecting the previous to pay a bill because of the arseholes protesting in a manner that is un-Australian. The logic in this space is loco. How about the Australian citizens who wish to protest organise their own event to "protest" without causing public nuisance and expecting another event to pay for their behaviour and free speech.

Pretty sure the bill was sent to the wrong address. Nameless and faceless pests.

Inciting hatred and violence is ok?

Whatever milo or anyone else talks about: it’s the left protesters that actually respond violently and injure police and others.

That behaviour should be getting protested about it.

true. the 'right' never protest violently. they generally just stick to Nazi salutes. (we will ignore Cronulla as that wasnt really a protest).
