Talking Politics

Anning is just the most vocal of them. But plenty support him or his views.

It will undoubtedly hurt people and we should look at doing it progressively however the unfairness is not in the changes the ALP wants to bring in but in the change in the legislation by the Howard government in the early 2000s. It should never have been brought in.

The original philosophy was that profits that create dividends should not be taxed twice but they should be taxed at the company tax rate. By bringing in cash refunds for low income earners the profits that have created those dividends now don’t get taxed at all. The company tax paid on them is returned in cash to the recipient of the dividend.

As an example if the only income I receive is a $7000 dividend under the current law I get income of $10000 in my tax return and a franking credit if $3000 which I get back in cash. That $3000 is the tax the company paid on $10000 profit and now I have it not the ATO. Once my marginal tax rate is 30% or above under the ALP change I will get the franking credit which ensures that $10000 is never taxed at more than 30%.

The change is absolutely fair but I agree we need to phase it it so people have time to rearrange their affairs

If it’s fair it should be phased in at worst. As mentioned accountants and financial planners advice was to go with SMSF’s. They need to be audited each year which costs a lot of money $2,000 to $10,000 I have read. The SMSF for lower income earners will be need to be in many cases undone (depends if it’s property or shares). The work, the stress and in many cases the people effected are our most vulnerable who deserve better. Self funded retirees should be held in great esteem for largely not being on the public purse.

Why would he need to pay a police bill? The organisers of a protest should be paying the police bills.

He should be paying for security to make sure his paying customers are safe.

Yeah i always thought that too MB

A company is a separate legal person. If a company makes a loss then the owners of the said company are not liable for that loss.

Since a company is a separate legal person the company pays tax, at a reduced rate as it is company.

If the company makes a profit then the profit of the said company is paid out to the owners of the company as a dividend.

The owners of the company is then pay tax on their separate income received as a dividend. I say separate as the company is a separate legal person.

You can't have it both ways. Company makes loss, shareholders not liable. Company makes profit shareholders, apparently, get credit for tax paid by company.

Sorry, you want limited liability, then, just as you accept separated liability, you have to accept separation of income.

Franking credits are not taxing the same income twice they are taxing 2 separate income streams twice. Franking credits should not exist at all. And, in many countries they don't.

Fraser Anning. What a *smile*.

I saw the egg video.
He needs better security. Security that won’t let people get that close.
I think his self defence and the follow up from others on the attacker was appropriate.

This is how the lefties behave if they don’t agree with your opinion.

Yep, fair response. Regardless of who the speaker was.

What'd be funny was if you only need 19 votes to get rid of him.

Yep seems appropriate for breaking an egg on someone’s head... ::)

not so sure assaulting someone with an egg is the basis for creating a national hero !

Or is it ok because "the victim" is someone most people appear to hate & that somehow makes it ok.

What if the victim was Morrison or Hawke or Obama or your mum

Who on here is making a hero out of him Taz? I just don’t think punching a kid in the face twice and having four guys wrestle him to the ground and holding him in a choker hold is a commensurate response to an egging. Good possibility the authorities will see it in a similar way.

Yes, Howard and Costello certainly looked after their fat cat mates, and themselves of course. Not too many people in the position to make a post-tax contribution of up to $1 million to their superannuation.

Ok I just checked the other thread and looks like Baloo is ;D

Yeah, I'm on the #Eggboy bandwagon. What he did to Annaing, humiliated him, went a long way to restoring Australia's rep worldwide after Anning's comments.

Repost here just so I can get my post count up:

What sad is how quickly people take their preferred left or right side before thinking about what really happened with #Eggboy and Egghead.

It wasn't violence, it was humiliation. Just enough force to crack an egg. Humiliation Anning deserved for humiliating Australia by releasing his statement on Australian Government letterhead. What #Eggboy did was a lot braver than Anning does with his views and normally surrounded by his neo Nazi minders. Walked up, pulled out his phone, in the middle of a room surround by nazi thugs he said "*smile* It" and egged Anning. Then he cops a decent slap and stands his ground. Good on the kid.

That small act of defiance went a long way to restoring Australia's credibility. We should all say Thank You to #Eggboy.

I reckon this will have started a new movement. The next time neo-nazis or white supremacists are gathered, the eggs will come flying from all directions. Might be a good time to buy shares in egg farmers.
