Looks like Mark Latham has won a NSW Upper House seat for One Nation, Alan Jones will be happy after he donated $10,000.
Heaven help NSW politics.

News just said he has an 8 year term.....how does that work?

That's a small investment for jones to have another stooge to stir the pot from the inside.

The Legislative Council have 42 members, but only half are up for election every 4 years, so Latham will be up again in 2027.

I expect he will 'represent' 4 or 5 parties in that time.

Interesting election result, barely any seats changing hands, was 2 last I saw. Both major parties lost votes.

Given the upcoming Federal election, I think this means little. At present each major has almost the same number of seats: Coalition 23 and Labor 24 in NSW. So, it looks like the Federal election will be decided elsewhere, hard to see Labor picking any up in NSW if this is any indication so it is mainly back to Queensland as Labor might pick some up in Victoria but they already hold most here so slim pickings.

My concern with Shorten is that once in power all the shackles and discipline of opposition are released and a raft of favours have to be repaid.
Yes, Daniel Andrews had plenty of favours to repay as well and he has been repaying them, but it didn’t stop him getting re-elected in a landslide. More a commentary on how bad the LNP is than the other way around imo.

Fire fighters union, nurses union and CFMMEU all owed plenty by Dan and he has been quietly paying them back.

On a slight tangential point please.

Labor tried to flog the sitting nsw government on the latter’s re build stadiums policy. Indeed, Daley committed to sacking Alan Jones from the SCG Trust as he, Jones, is a government appointee. That led me to the conclusion, the nsw government owns the SCG and Allianz stadium.

Made me think, who owns the MCG?

The MCC trust. Not sure if they pay any rent to the owners of Yarra Park which is the land it sits on.

What a grubby individual James Ashby is, trouble follows him like blow flies to a *smile*.
Surely Pauline Hanson can do better than having him as her political adviser, and that's saying something.

You’re not sinking the Slipper in there are you?

Some might consider Pauline and James deserve each other.

Steve Dixon, ex Liberal Politician, was Minister for National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing in the QLD Campbell Newman Government, who then defected to One Nation.

One Nation is a party established by and appealing to morons. Its founder is a moron, its candidates are morons, its constituency are morons, little wonder they can only get morons to work for them.
