Talking Politics

It will be interesting to see how all this plays out. I can see Porter getting dumped in an attempt to halt the polls decline. Reynolds should go but they may deem that too risky in the current environment. If there is a move on Morrison it will come from Dutton on the hard right and Frydenberg on the right.

I wouldn't be surprised if Murdoch has ALP potentials heading to Yass as well. Murdoch's don't really care which side of politics is in power, as long as they own them. But who in the ALP? Albanese inspires no one. He's had a chance with the Libs flaying to come out strong and stick the boots in, but he hasn't. He's coming across as weak which isn't something Australians tend to vote for. Unfortunately Penny Wong is more than content in the Senate and doesn't seem to have the urge to become PM. I think she'd be a good leader and PM but I don't think Australia is ready to vote in a lesbian Asian female as their PM. Glillard had it hard enough as a female, though she was a ranga.

Nothing really inspiring no matter which way it goes really.

I reckon Australia is ready for a lesbian Asian PM, but then I've always had faith we're better than we show we are a lot of the time. Anyway, as you say Baloo, it doesn't appear she wants it. Shame, she'd be great.

Albo is uninspiring, but it seems the ALP is hoping to just slide in anyway. Put a strong, likeable, well-spoken, credentialled woman in the job and they'll bolt it in. Clare O'Neill is a possibility. Kristina Keneally is left-field but a great performer. Plibersek lost me with the lame pledge of allegiance *smile*. Just a lawyer with no feel.

Morrison has had a good month.:rotfl2
It's been very traumatic for him. It almost brought him to the brink of being able to successfully manufacture tears. And he loves his mum! And his wife! And his daughters! And they're womens, so he gets it! Look at me emoting!

I think we are only just beginning to approach the point where we dont think its OK to sodomise women in the National Legislature.

so I reckon we are a bit of a way off putting the PM on the Chinese dragon Mardi Gras float.

Does Scotty have any gay asian women daughters or mothers?

Did he really do an empathy course?

Don't give him any ideas easy :mhihi
I hope your high and dry over your way, and that Richo is in the top paddock.

suns out today so we'll start to dry out.

Richo was replaced by Jack Reiwoldt a couple of years back, but yes, JR is the top paddock.

I have began to put the feelers out for Big Tom.

something wrong here, I only pressed enter once and I get 4 posts.

I'll overtake Oldy in no time at this rate

I have no problem with your political views, but amazed that you or anyone else still think it's OK in 2021 to use this pejorative. How is likening people with red hair to orangutans funny, or any different to likening people with dark skin to chimps or apes?

As someone who has lightly-coloured redheads in my family, I have really had enough of the use of this kind of offensive term. It takes a recessive gene, so it must be present in the genetic code of both partners to be reproduced. But geneticists have decreed that it is gradually disappearing from our human DNA as people have increasingly diverse partners in this international age. So less human individuality and diversity.

Hope that makes anyone who wants to persist with this form of racism happy. What a laugh.

[And, incidentally, orangutans too being wiped out at a huge rate in Indonesia as they are killed or lose their habitat for palm oil plantations].

So Murdoch's in town...........the push for Dutton as PM commences.
They would have to be desperate ... or invest in an incredibly good PR image restoration/makeover campaign. Most likely not electable.

So possibly Fraudenberg? But just innocuous IMO and completely 'missing' on the whole Women4Justice issue.

Marise Payne may have had an incredible opportunity here to step into the leadership vacuum as Minister for Women, leading a charge for redress, justice, equality and reform. One of the more clever and articulate operators in a LNP government where leadership qualities are in incredibly short supply. Could have taken advantage of the male-led govt's ineptitude overall to leapfrog into PM ascendancy perhaps.

Not that I like or trust her. Just saying there were real opportunities for her to grasp currently, but she proved just not up to it, or not ruthless enough.
