Ooh, I sure hope so. Having a RWNJ from the IPA as your local member is not much fun. Last week he sent out a brochure about how he and the current Federal Government saved a local parkland which is now being turned into a local bush reserve. He wasn't anywhere to be seen when the future of that park was being discussed, but he has now managed to get some filthy lucre to throw at the electorate to try and buy our votes and convince us he is some sort of greenie.

If you acknowledge that climate change is a very real, urgent, imminent, existential threat to human life and civilisation as we know it (which you should), then it is only logical to treat those who obstruct efforts to mitigate the effects, those who profit from actively worsening the situation, as enemies of the people committing crimes against humanity. Surely the punishment for this is allowing them to continue to salt the Earth, poison the water and befoul the sky while we sit dumbly by and future generations are condemned to suffer the horrible consequences of our complacency. I don't see any other rational, reasonable, proportionate response. It's time to continue doing nothing because there is no such thing as heroic action. Murdoch first into the climate-controlled underground paradise his billions have already bought once the surface is unliveable, but there's a long line of untouchable psychopaths who'll join him. Just not you. Or your kids. But be Nice about it. Accept your fate.
We can talk about the pros and cons of war in Ukraine, or debate whether murderers deserve the death penalty, but let's please not suggest violent means to prevent the greatest threat to civilisation short of global nuclear meltdown. It's just not Nice, and we need to think of the children.
The Left need to stop attacking each other over pronouns and purity tests and invest in some big *smile*-off curry recipes.

Whether Ukraine is truly democratic or not is irrelevant to the fact that Russia is invading them. Tulsi Gabbard truly is The Big Richo of Democratic politics in the US

I will add that what I am trying to explain is how you need to see the situation from both sides if you really want it resolved, as opposed to just barracking for one side. The explanations of the dispute from the perspective of who is exerting power, and how hierarchical politics is played as a power game, are precisely why I don't like the way politics operates and why I have left wing politics.
Whether Ukraine is democratic is relevant given the one-sided drivel the media is spouting. Which side installed the latest government there matters too I would have thought.
