Talking Politics

It's simply what Governments do best. *smile* tax payers money down the drain while telling us how *smile* good they are.

Liberal Party is imploding and doing their best impression of the ALP of the past. These stories of Morrison’s pre selection are all linked to revenge around Sen Fierravanti-Wells and the NSW liberals pre-selection fiasco. The right wing is undoubtedly out to get SCOMO.

I reckon they have basically given up on this election.

Interesting article and certainly a lot of issues covered.

One of the things she alluded to which I reckon is a major concern, is just how low the membership numbers for the major parties are these days. Neither major party would have much more than 5,000 members in Victoria. The whole notion of joining a party to try and influence their policies and what they would do in government has been lost. Both major parties are run by the apparatchiks and the membership is ignored, so people just don't bother because it is pointless. If you really want to be ignored, join the party because they know they have your support so you are the lowest priority.

I remember back in the late 90s, we had gone to South Africa for a few months as my partner did some work there. One of the people we met in South Africa was a member of the ANC. Talking to him we mentioned the sort of membership numbers in the major parties here, he was astounded: how could they be major parties with so few members? The ANC would have had maybe 250,000 members in Johannesburg then, and Jo'burg has a similar population to Victoria.

You can say people aren't interested, but I reckon it is more about joining a party looking like a useless exercise in futility.

At least the independents seem to be trying to get some local involvement in politics.

If ever you need an empirical indicator

That our democracy needs major reform,

Surely that our PM lost preselection by his local membership

8 - 82

Is it?

9 out of 10 people who knew what he represented and how he represented it,

Rejected him,

And he became Boss Cocky of our Nation?

*smile* me, thats a messed up system

Catherine Cusack, retiring Lib MP, says she won't vote for the coalition while the LiarFromTheShire is the leader. Accusing him of bullying flood victims.

When it rains it's a once in 500 year flood for this government. So much *smile* being revealed that their rewrite of Hansard is hardly being reported.

Sky News comes to the Government's defense claiming these Liberal MPs & Senators roasting ScoMo in public are all part of the Labor Dirt Unit.

Despite all that, 4.5 out of every 10 Australians will vote for the incumbents. Would love to hear what they say about why they are going to vote for the Coalition. Sadly I think most PRE coalition voters have this thread on ignore.

So Dud-mo is at it again, recklessly putting his own ambitions ahead of the country’s best interests by trying to gather votes by suggesting the states should change (relax) their iso rules when medical experts, including the AHPPC, say we need to maintain them especially with a surge in new cases, sickness, Winter approaching etc.

Man is a disgrace.

I posted elsewhere that this is the height of hypocrisy. He chairs National cabinet which agreed to accept the recommendations of the AHPPC.
He knows that but still criticises the states for doing exactly what National cabinet agreed.

That Friendly Jordies video is unbelievable. Married, conservative politician allegedly having sex with male prostitutes in parliamentary prayer room while he was the sitting defence minister. This guy would have been a massive security risk (susceptible to black mailing by a foreign government).

The source is a whistle blower who was raided by the APF (so was his family). Outrageous. Surely the security threat of the sitting defence Minister was a far bigger issue?

No Slomo, The only people saying you shouldn’t spend money on victims of natural disasters are the *smile* wits in your own party, you gaslighting mother *smile*

Leigh Sales took him to task on this last night. The question had a mocking tone, 'who has said this?' His response was quite amazing, but not surprising. Was at pains to change the subject as quickly as possible, like the "i've spoken to industry', body language was clear he'd been caught out, again. Just kept talking over Sales saying 'but who said it?' with vague mumbled mentions of 'people on facebook'.

Sales didn't push it really, his evasion worked and they moved on. Its as if the media have just accepted that he lies a lot.

he certainly lies a lot, and some will brush that aside and say all politicians lie.
But it's the blatant gaslighting that gets me. It's unprecedented.
Just yesterday, in defending his meddling in the NSW pre-selections, he justifies it by claiming he was standing up for women.

"So, I stood up for the women in my team.

"That was what the principal reason was and people know that."

Who the *smile* are these people who knew that he's such a champion of female politicians?

He referred to the comments on his FB page as evidence of this too.

I thought Leigh Sales was pretty average last night, came across as a bit shrill and allowed Scott to talk over the top of her too often.

Morrison is like an angry drunk that's forgotten what the argument is about.
A preacher on a rickety pulpit.

The routineness/ relentlessness of it is undoubtedly unprecedented in a PM. He does this this everytime he speaks, its his rhetorical modus operandi. Conjures nameless vague mysterious forces that are either great and back him or are evil and he bravely stands up to.

A few people have accused him of being a compulsive liar, I initially thought that was a bit over the top, but I don't anymore.

She was, but there are legitimate reasons for that, the coalition have progressively nobbled the ABC since JH, they have their foot on its throat. Even so, SM still basically said he wouldn't be going on 7.30 again. He knows that its irrelevant to his chances, they ask the tough questions, and why should he subject himself to scrutiny when nobody who votes for him watches the ABC?
