Talking Politics

Its a general statement of course, but I don't reckon. Even so, the point is an interview on 7.30 will make no difference to his electoral chances either way at this stage.

Not sure about this. The ABC is still the most trusted media in the country (ok, I'll admit, with the likes of Sky and the Murdoch rags that isn't a big prize) but also the ABC is still relied on to deliver news to regional areas where they have less media. 7.30 has a fair bit of influence despite Sky getting air time on the TVs at parliament and airports - Sky's ratings are abysmal but their influence is well beyond their ratings.

Why wouldn't Morrison voters watch 7.30 or Insiders?
? Got a couple of days? They don't watch the 7.30 report. I could break this down and go on for days, google "why do conservative people hate the ABC", I just did and plenty came up from across the media.

They have a show on RN called 'counterpoint' hosted by Amanda Vanstone. It was a result of the Howard efforts to nobble the ABC, stacking the board, slashing funding, writing the charter etc. The title of the show and the fact its the only overtly conservative show an the ABC says it all.

Your average ute-driving, climate-denying, bogan core Morrison audience member mightn't, but plenty of negative-gearing, credit-franking boomer conservatives watch 7.30, Insiders, Q&A, (and Keeping Up Appearances) and listen to Fran Kelly.

Kelly, Sales, Speers and the execrable Greg Jennett (Afternoon Briefing) are all Coalition apologists/outright propagandists.

Meanwhile, mainstream media completely ignores reports of the Defence Minister rooting rent boys in Parliament House:

I don't disagree with any of that, but we obviously disagree on the impact. Yes there is a cohort of rich urban negative gearing professionals who watch the ABC. As I said it was a generalisation. But this is a small cohort.

The ute driving, climate skeptic (I'll add add bible bashing) western Sydney, suburban and regional QLD, core SM, they are a huge cohort and what keeps him in power.

Haven't heard GJ but I'll take your word for it, agree on DS and *smile*, and re LS, I think its a bit harsh, but she has been knobbled to some degree and she tries, but I take your point.

You make a good point re the Coalition apologists in the ABC, as I've said the ABC has been knobbled and they are the living breathing result, but it makes no difference to the right wing warriors. As Turnbull found out, its never enough, appeasing the far right gets you nowhere.

edit, Fran Kelly's initials set off the swear filter! thats kind of funny.

The routineness/ relentlessness of it is undoubtedly unprecedented in a PM. He does this this everytime he speaks, its his rhetorical modus operandi. Conjures nameless vague mysterious forces that are either great and back him or are evil and he bravely stands up to.

A few people have accused him of being a compulsive liar, I initially thought that was a bit over the top, but I don't anymore.
Yeh, I thought a lot of criticisms were harsh initially but he is the ultimate phoney.

No doubt the worst PM I can recall. Easily.

As some suggest, if he was a labour PM the front 5 pages of the HS & Aust would be plastered with it and Sky would have a 24/7 channel dedicated to covering him.

FriendlyJordies tears literal c*cksuckers new metaphorical ar$ehole

This video has been removed due to a defamation complaint which is outrageous.

And as usual, not a peep from the msm about it, presumably because any journalist that touches it won't have any of their press conference questions answered from any LNP pollies ever again.
