What a lineup. Canavan, Christensen, Abetz.
Hard to know what’s worse - the Christian Right or radical left.

who are the radical left?

and where are they?

and if they did have any power,

wouldn't legislating to call breastmilk, chest milk and funding a disabled transgender asexual-high libido refugee school

be less destructive than things like selling all the Murray Darling system to your big cotton mates for cheap and buying it back expensive, after the circulatory system of our nation is completely *smile*?

Great to see McGowan and the other States forcing ScoMo to take more responsibility of Covid quarantine. McGowan is putting his popularity to good use against ScoMo, and ScoMo has to begrudgingly listen to him.
The next election is only 12 months or so away, if all the states votes similar to how they voted in the last election and ScoMo loses a couple of seats in Wa, he's goneski, McGowan knows it and so does ScoMo.

Gee that left-wing media have some funny ideas don't they?

Many years ago, the idea that media empires could gain so much control over one country's media was seen as eroding democracy - now it is just the norm and apparently you're some sort of loony if you have a problem with concentrated media ownership.

Morrison is going to double the capacity of Howard Springs, about time!!
There wouldn't be so many Australians waiting to get home if he had increased the capacity 6 months ago.
Personal view is that the Feds will put money into quarantine facilities like this in every state. May not be the level that the Vic Govt is asking for at the Mickelham site but will be substantial.
The states are totally United on this and the premiers are putting on a lot of combined pressure, including the liberal states.

Yes, they are going to have to, they're on a hiding to nothing if they don't.

That's because iron man McGowan has finally realised he can't keep COVId out just by shutting the borders every 5 minutes. He doesn't really care if COVId hits his state just has to be able blame someone else. It's not political though.

If China can build a new hospital in six days why can't Morrison get some quarantine accommodation built.
Come on Morrison step up, show some leadership.

22nd Man, last year I was calling for Christmas Island to be used, and a few months ago I called for the Morrison government to do THEIR job and take control of quarantine and to build more accommodation.

If Covid numbers take off again due to returning Australians, it won't be blamed on the states, the federal government will cop it in the neck, and Morrison knows it.

And yes I have contacted my local member about it.

I think McGowan cares a lot about keeping Covid out of Wa, and so should the Morrison government.

The price of iron ore is + $US190 a tonne and is expected to soon hit $US200.
The Morrison government budgeted for it to be $55 a tonne. A major reason for the rise in the Iron Ore price is because of what's happened to iron ore exports in Brazil due to Covid.

"Iron ore is Australia’s most lucrative export, last year becoming the first of any Australian product to top $100 billion in yearly export earnings. The price of the commodity has defied repeated predictions that it was overdue for a fall, and has been trading at sky-high levels for several months as the ramp-up of industrial activity in China post-COVID-19 fuels robust demand at the same time as supply disruptions have affected output from Brazilian iron ore heavyweight Vale.

"Federal Resources Minister Keith Pitt said Australia was expected to hit a new high of $136 billion of iron ore exports in 2020-21.

Iron ore is a big part of the resources sector that is forecast to contribute $296 billion in export earnings this year,” he said.

“In Western Australia, it is carrying the state’s economy through the coronavirus pandemic, providing approximately a quarter of the state government’s revenue.”

According to federal Treasury estimates, a sustained $US10 rise in iron ore prices corresponds to an extra $4.4 billion rise in nominal GDP and $300 million in extra company tax receipts.

Given the issues with Iron Ore out of Brazil maybe it's time we did some tit for tat sanctions on China.

Won't take our wine, tell your students not to come here? Fine, no Iron Ore for you.

But there is not one politician in the country with the backbone to do anything like this.

how's these cynical *smile*?

bit of heat about locking brown australians out?

Home Affairs Minister :'release the Indians!'
Advisor: 'um, they're actually Sri Lankan Minister'
Home Affairs Minister: (irritated) 'we'll they're brown aren't they? release them immediately!'

17m ago 09:32 Biloela family could be released in community detention in the 'not too distant future'

Wait for the announcement that Christmas Island will now be used as a quarantine centre for Australians returning from high infection countries.

The Biloela Family story is the one that kills me. It's horrible. Functioning members of a community that loves them, jobs and kids, decent folk. Everything they say immigrants should be and do and look at the disgusting treatment they get.

If this Govt don't win the next election they should all be in jail .. starting with Dutton.

Ill be slightly less cynical, and say things can only improve now Dutton is no longer involved in these decisions.

so in recent days, the gov has started to backtrack on the Indian ban, jail time for those who do return from India, the detention of the family on Christmas Island, on funding quarantine facilities, and on "independent assessments" for those who receive NDIS funding and has flagged big increases in aged care and child care funding (tho this gov is prone to announcing spending then not actually spending it.)
and have started to talk up "war" with China

I assume they arent doing so well in polls? or are preparing to call an election?
